Turtle Beach by REX Resorts

Our room in the hotel was so far away from the reception hall and the pool it took us 5-8 minutes to walk to the room. The room itself was nice (ocean front) but that is about the only good thing about this hotel. The pool was only 4 feet deep and there was a jacuzzi but it didn't work. It also was more of a family-style hotel and not suitable for a young crowd.

This place is completely average which is not a bad thing. The room was ok,the food was ok,the location was ok.Sit by the pool and relax ,take a dip and swim up to the poolside bar and grab a drink or go 20 feet from the pool and take a stroll on the beach. I got the all inclusive package so food and drinks were "free" so to speak.If you plan on not leaving the resort then you should get the all inclusive. If you're not going to be eating three times a day and drinking a lot then it might not be worth it.

Upon entering the hotel we were warmly greeted by the staff. They had drinks available to use as well as a clean peppermint scented hand towel to clean up. That was wonderful until we found out... *The hotel was NOT in the Scarborough. It was in Courland Bay. *It was away from anything near Scarbourough and Crown Point which is where all the interesting places are. *The beach was murky and the waves were crazy. *We were bored and had it not been for the pool we would not have had anything to do. *Dinner was expensive at the only restaurant there with the same menu of about 16 or so items to choose from. *Three of the dishes on the menu with chicken was not available because they didn't have chicken. Who does not have chicken at a restaurant?!!!! *There were only about 8 channels on the tv and one of them was in Spanish so we really had 7 channels to choose from. *We had no phones in our room because they were doing maintenance on the phonse system. We had to take a long walk to the front desk anythime we need to talk to someone which was really annoying!!! *Our safe was broken and they were clear on the fact that they were not going to fix it. *The room was clean but not updated at all. I would never recommend or return to this place again. I can't believe the incorrect advertisement of this place on its location which is really wrong.

We checked in about 5:30pm, after a long trip. A/C didn't work in the room, so we went to the pool to unwind. We were kicked out of the beautiful, well-lit pool after less than 10 minutes, because it closed at 6pm!( <--for no particular reason - 3 different employees didn't know WHY ) We were finally re-accomodated to an air-conditioned room after the 3rd request, some hours later. We were not allowed to look at the breakfast buffet prior to purchasing it; we were not allowed to pay cash at the restaurant or the swim-up bar; we were given mis-information at the front desk 3 times... there were just too many rules. I felt like a number, not a valued customer.

This is not a bad hotel if you are in the correct demographic. They do have all-inclusive food and booze, but everything closes down early and the majority of guest are of retirement age, which is totally cool if you are retired and want to relax. Not so good if you are young(er) and looking to pick up chicks and get rowdy! ; ) On the plus side: the all-you-can-drink option (which unfortunately can be slow at times) and it is right on the beach...

This is a reasonably priced resort with some great amenities. Every room not only overlooks the water, every room is within 50 yeards of a gorgeous yellow sand beach on Turtle Bay. The food is very good for an all-inclusive resort, with a varied menu that included local Caribbean dishes. Largest pool on Tobago with swim up bar. Very convenient location to airport and tourist attractions. Rooms cleaned thoroughly daily; exceptionally friendly staff. Only downer was the rooms and general facilities are in need of updating. New general manager,[...], and assistant manager, [...], seem to be committed to doing just that.

The beach the hotel was on was beautiful. It was nice, soft sand it was pretty clean. The staff at the hotel was not the most friendly. Not a lot of Americans travel there but more English and Germans do talking to some people there. I'm guessing the hospitality is a cultural thing but I'm not sure. If you're looking for great service and 3 to 5 stars, I would go elsewhere. The food was not good and a bit expensive for what you got ($14 US per person). I ended up paying this for eggs, toast, and bacon every day for breakfast.

I thought this hotel was great value for what we paid. Was it perfect, no, but I enjoyed myself. The only negative was that the food was not good. I would definitely suggest not chosing the all inclusive option. There is only one restaurant that is expensive. The food on Tobago in general is really expensive. The cabs are cheap, though, so it is best to take a cab to a restaurant each night. There are no walking distance restaurants. Staff were pretty rude but that is really no big deal. The room was fine. View from the balcony was spectacular. The best thing about the hotel was the beach. Fun for swimming with a sandy bottom and turtles nest there. The highlight of our trip was seeing a giant leatherback turtle lay its eggs.

We had maybe our best holiday ever, wonderful staff who couldn't do enough to help, great location on a turtle nesting beach, great weather, great food. All inclusive is great value too. And we enjoyed the guests company and made many new friends. Management really tries to get it right and listens well to feedback.

Vendors on the beach are quite a nuisance. You wonder why there is any security, if they don't do anything about it. Service is very good, except for the swim/beach facilities: the bin on the premisses is closed for no reason, while opening hours suggest it is not.
