The location is very nice: most of the common facilities (restaurant, pool, spa) are on the West Railay beach, which is much better than the East Railay. The privacy cottages were very cool: private enough to walk around naked in the private yard
and the interior is very spacious. No Wi-Fi or any other Internet access in the rooms, though, but the Wi-Fi in the restaurant is free for guests and works reasonably well.
We got a good low season deal and spent 5 nights here in June. The pool location in proximity to the beach is probably the best in Railay, and we spent a lot of time going back and forth between the pool and beach. Railay, being somewhat isolated
from Krabi and Ao Nang, is a little more expensive, but we were happy with the value, all things considered. Generally, the guests were couples and families.
Decent place in an area with no great lodging options
Railay Bay in general is a strange place because everyone who works on the beach seems to have decided to be as unfriendly and unhelpful as possible. This hotel is no exception to this rule
We opted for the privacy villa after reading negative
reviews of the room qualities. The room itself was nice while the bathroom could use some updating. We actually used the outdoor shower in our villa because the main shower was so unappealing.
While beds in all hotels in Thailand are hard, the beds here are just a smidge better than sleeping on the floor.
The breakfast was subpar but this is to be expected because good food does not exist in all of Railay Bay (except at Rayavadee which is pricey.)
This is a beautiful, somewhat remote area of Thailand. We had just come from the hectic pace of Bangkok, so it was wonderful to just relax for a few days.
The Railay Bay Resort and Spa is a nice place, although it could use some renovation. The
breakfast was plentiful. Service at the restaurant is in need
of someone to coordinate things. We were with some friends and our meals
were often confused or served out of order (appetizers with the meal or someone
getting their main course 15 minutes before the rest of us!). The staff was
friendly and gracious. I would go there again.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
There is an internet store a short walk away that charges a lot less than the resort.
