Great hotel for the price

Well, it's a little off the beaten path, but it's an oasis is the hectic world of Bangkok. From my late check in to my early morning departure, the Siam City Hotel provided everything one could want from comfort, food, and beverage to help filling three wonderful days in Bangkok. Convenient to the BTS Skytrain, it was easy to get to or close to all the areas and sights that one could see and do in 3 days. On a US scale, the hotel would rate close to 4 stars.

Impressive Lobby and outlook.

Impressive Lobby and outlook. 5 mins walk from BTS (Skytrain) and Airport Link Station. (25 mins to airport). 2 stops away from Siam Central station. Only downside was that the room overlooked the main road, and with windows of only single glass that meant the traffic noise from the road was very audible. (Earplugs were the answer, but I am a light sleeper). Will ask for a room on the other side next time.

Service was excellent, most staff

Service was excellent, most staff greeted us and were very helpful. Is not right in the centre of anything so it wasn't too crowded yet it was close enough to the sky train and taxis were cheap to get around (MBK was only 20mins walk away). Loved the stay.

Overall we had a lovely few days

Overall we had a lovely few days stay, as the staff were very polite and helpful. Great dinner buffets at the restaurant. The hotel has terrific location near subway and skytrain stations. On the negative side, the night we arrived the coffee mugs were dusty. Also the idea of recycled (pre-used) bedroom slippers from strangers was very unhealthy and really put us off. Room 1560 has leak above the bathroom door!

Siam City Hotel Review Bangkok, Thailand

Siam City Hotel is an average hotel. My first impressions of the hotel were not too good. When you arrive, the outside of the hotel is beside congested old buildings, an overpass, and telephone lines hanging all around the streets. Once you get in though, the hotel is quite nice. There are marble and granite floors, enjoyable bars with a piano, a spa, and more. The hotel rooms are nothing special as well. The bed is very stiff, rooms are small, furniture is a bit dinged up, and the walls have no insulation. The first night I was there, I could hear someone throwing up. It was horrible. Once that guy left, the stay was more pleasant. We booked a Thai Full Body Massage and it was very good. You will pay more at the hotel, but we found it to be convenient and there was no worry of someone trying to sell us a true "massage". Overall, the hotel is ok. Staff was helpful and friendly. The food was good and it was a place to rest the head. It is also close to the sky train, which is a plus. You will feel safe there, but your first impressions will probably be similar to mine...

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

If you can travel by sky train then do it. Cabs are always trying to scam you by saying their meters are broke... Traffic can also be quite horrible at certain times during rush hours. The sky train is clean and efficient. If you stay at this hotel, there is a stop within 5 minutes walk.

Overall the hotel was very good,

Overall the hotel was very good, but I wouldn't quite call it 5 star as it was a little shabby in places. The service was good but the extra's such as the internet usage in the lobby & food at the restaurants very expensive, room service breakfast was expensive and bland but we had some good noodles by the pool one day - rest of the time we ate outside of the hotel. We were there for Xmas & I loved the big Xmas tree & the happy hour for cocktails was great. The pool is modern, nice and clean but doesn't get direct sunlight, so if you are there to get a suntan this probably isn't the hotel for you! I'll try some where else next time to compare, but wouldn't rule out staying here again. Location fine - nice & close to the sky train & Siam Square.
