VERY NICE
THE BREAKFAST WAS AN UNEXPECTED DELIGHT...AFTER THE LONG FLIGHT THE RECEPTIONIST TRIED TO CONVINCE US TO PREPAY FOR THE BREAKFAST AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED WE DO SO. I DID NOT BUT WENT BY IN THE MORNING ANYWAY TO CHECK IT OUT...FANTASTIC FOOD A COMPLETE DELIGHT!

Walk out the hotel and go left in the evening. Within minutes you will be in the midst of shopping clubbing and eating.

You can expect the usual 4*star
You can expect the usual 4*star hotel but for the price you pay, there are loads of hotel that are better located. I did encounter a day where the housekeeping did not turn up despite turning the "Please make room" indicator on the entire morning. It can be annoying when you are drenched in sweat after a run on the treadmill and have to call housekeeping on the phone and waiting for 15 minutes for them to deliver the shampoo and the shower gel.

A very fine hotel with an excellent, responsive staff, large immaculate rooms in a great location for sighseeing and nightlife. A five minute walk to the SkyTrain, plentiful taxis to go anywhere else.

Comfortable hotel in very good location
I found the Sofitel a very good base for sight-seeing in Bangkok. The easiest way to get round Bangkok is via the river (it's also very cheap - I was charged 13 Baht (26p) to get to the Grand Palace) and it's easy to walk to the skytrain (Chang Nonsi) from the Sofitel. The ferry station is Saphan Taksin. I grew to love the Sofitel , the minute you walk in, the air is cool and fragrant. The rooms are what you would expect of a 5 star hotel - comfortable and very clean.

Home away from Home
The Sofitel Silom is a lovely hotel that has all the comforts of home. Actually the beds were amazing and more comfortable than home. Rooms were roomy and we had a nice big bathtub and shower with great towels and bathrobes. The staff was also terrific and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the wine bar, This hotel is centrally located in the business district near the skytrain. This is a plus because Bangkok traffic can be very difficult. We would definitely reccomend this hotel for a very comfortable home away from home,
