Area description
Centre Point Silom is situated on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, "The River of Kings", which in times long gone, was the focal of Thai lifestyle. It is still as important today. Silom Road was originally a tree-lined canal, one of many in old Bangkok which was once called "The Venice of the East". Thai riverside life is still celebrated and there is nowhere better than the Centre Point Silom. The nearby Saphan Taksin BTS Station provides easy access to travel around Bangkok.

What You See You Get

Big room, actually appartment, with full equipment (washing machine etc). Good location - 100 m from the BRS (Sky-train) station. Nice to observe ordinary folk crowding around. Close to the river (250 m) and boats. Good local cuisine in a small local opposite 7/11. In hotel staff very helful. Big swimming pool 140 cm deep (no small children). Can recommend for the price of $80 we paid.

Exxcellent location!

I stayed at this hotel beacuse it is close to BTS (train system), and within a few minutes to the conference venue (at a nearby large hotel). Getting to the venue by a boat taxi every morning was an excellent way to start the day. Coffee served at the lobby was a great service, though sometimes the coffee machine was out of order. The room was clean and spacious with kitchen and dining facility. I would like to come back to this hotel in the future.

Some Problems with the actual room, & still little 'misses'

I have stayed at Centrepoint Silom a number of times before and like everything about the place, so keep coming back. Location, the convenience of being right above a supermarket and department store, access close to the river ferries and train station, plus amenities such as in room cooking and dining facilities, well equipped gym, sauna and great pool (long enough to do decent laps), friendly, very helpful staff and large rooms with river views...all add up to a good experience. This time, however, I was given an otherwise lovely corner room on the 23rd floor, with views of the river out two sides rather than just one...fantastic. But, the devil was in the detail. The Wi-Fi didn't work in the room, despite a router/booster being screwed to the ceiling of the adjacent room, the shower leaked badly and always made the floor and floor towel wet, despite the great extra, sheltered balcony on the extra side we had, no one had put any thought in how to best use it and it was simply bare...a table and chairs enabling outside dining and a few pot plants would not be that hard and would really lift the experience of the room's potential, as it no doubt would for all the others beneath it with the same floor plan and extra balcony. I have already suggested to staff here it is crazy to provide cooking and eating equipment n the room, but provide no dish cleaning mop/wand, or dish detergent with which to wash them. It is not really good enough to just rinse them under the kitchen sink's tap, which, on this floor, takes around 5 minutes to deliver hot water ( a major problem in the shower too, as you wait ages to get hot water, then it is so hot it scalds you, so you have to turn it down, it then gets cold quickly and you have to wait again for the hot to come back after turning it up). You also have nothing with which to wipe down the table, bench or sink after cleaning up and washing up, as a sponge is not provided either. Centrepoint, these are just little things, but they would turn these little disappointments into an overall very satisfied stay quite easily. Fix them all, and the hotel would be just about perfect. Max - Australia

Shopping tip: In Hotel

Robinsons Dept store is about to close for many months for some major renovations, so can only assume it will cause some disruption and removal of what has been a fabulous convenience via its own door right near the lift lobby.

This is a truly convenient hotel

From its location above a major department store and supermarket, with restaurants and everything from fast foods to a la carte dining at the very door, views of the river, access to a train just meters away and even river transport to great night spots like Asiatique, this hotel is one of the most convenient I have ever used in Bangkok. But, it doesn't ends with location... Great outdoor swimming pool, well equipped, hi-tech gym, sauna (I used them all), a washer/dryer in the unit along with the essential iron and ironing board, and a full kitchen set-up, even down to a hot-all-day pot for an instant cuppa, gives the ultimate convenience and flexibility to keeping organised on one's business trip or holiday, and remain able to eat your own cooking etc. Free and normally powerful Wi-Fi and the ability to connect your tablet or pc via hdmi lead to the 32 inch digital flat screen tv, or the ipod or smart phone to the Sony stereo to play your favourite music in hi-fi, made doing business or accessing your own stored entertainment so easy. There were also lots of free cable channels available to suit all languages and especially English, with lots of up to date movies available, all free. Cleanliness, attentiveness and responsiveness of staff has been consistently good at Centre Point Silom, and nice little touches like free coffee, tea and little snacks, enjoyed in a very comfortable lounge set-up in the lobby for those early arrivals who have to wait for their room to become available, reveals how the attitude of guest-first permeates this comfortable, good value hotel. I have stayed there three times now and will definitely be back many more times, as it has become my choice for my many working trips to Bangkok, and I have stayed in some great hotels, also along the riverfront, all of which were at least as good in many areas as Centre Point, even better in some, but none of which provided ALL the many conveniences of this stand-out hotel.

Good location and Good Service

The location is 2 mins walk from BTS. 2 fast food shop and 1 hotpot restaurant at the dept store in base levels. A small night market also next to the hotel. The staff are polite. The room is clean and I love the kitchette with microwave oven. Not much amenities except swimming pool. It is ideally good for family and leisure.

moderately good

Nothing quite A1 i.e. why have a kitchen if there are no real utensils or equipment etc. . No finer details i.e. most hotels provide you with a box of tissues but not here. Something missing but not a lot to complain about.

Great location !

Requested a non-smoking room but was given a stinky smoking room. Refused to take it and immediately got a room changed. It was still a smoking room but larger with better view of the river and it didn't smell as bad as the first room. Good thing that the supper market and many stores near by, bought the air freshener to spray in the room and it helped. Service was very good, enjoyed my stay!
