Monarch Plaza Hotel Taoyuan

The hotel staff was very helpful, especially Steve Lee, Front Office Manager, who went out of his way to make sure we were safe and comfortable and gave us plenty of information for getting around. One day we crossed the street, from the hotel, and waited for a bus that never came. The front staff noticed and came out to get us and drove us to our destination in their hotel car. The swimming pool, with the water fall and two hot tub/s, gym, men's and women's separate spas, complete, with hot pools and cold pools, steam baths and saunas, masage rooms, TV rooms and rest/tea rooms were like nothing we have seen before and was fantastic! The food in the breakfast room was the only negative factor with our visit. It was not at all to our liking. We wished they would have included some food items that are more appealing to western guests. Our room was very comfortable and the cleaning staff was very efficient. On our last night, we ate in their Japanese style dining room, on the 5th floor, and we were really surprised at how much better the quality of the food was vs the breakfast room.

The only surprise I had was lack of wireless in the rooms. Many hotels of that size and modernity have wireless, but not Monarch. Not to worry, all rooms have cable internet for one, and at our request they provided a cable splitter for two computers to be online. Many of the staff spoke English and all were courteous and very helpful. We had everything we needed and then some. The beds were soft and the rooms were nice (though the bathroom lighting is a bit dim). There were plenty of food options between the restaurant, a cafe, and a bar, and the food we sampled was quite good. Overall I was very pleased with my stay and would likely stay there again.
