City Suites Gateway Taoyuan...very good
Traveling alone,I needed a hotel room for a brief overnite stay due to a late plane arrival. The hotel was a 3 minite ride in a taxi (150 NT). I arrived at midnight. the staff greeted me with smiles, spoke with me in very acceptable english, my reservation was on the counter, ready and waiting. My room card was given to me within 3 minutes of my arrival. The room, the most inexpensive ($79US total), was small, immaculate, with TV, excellent bed, superb shower and bathroom with everything I needed to spend the night without opening my toilet kit. I was very, very pleased. Early in the morning the taxi driver was waiting to drive me to the high speed station. Maybe 10 minutes. 250 NT. Very courteous. I will definitely stay there again. With children or for extended stay, not in the small room. Too small. Larger room yes. No internet in room. Only drawback. Staff is excellent.

If you need a place to stay near airport
This hotel is very close to the airport and is clean and comfortable. Taxi fare to the hotel is $6USD, which makes it relatively cheap compared to hotels in Taipei. Free buffet included but does not expect Western food.
