Not good!
the only good thing about this hotel is the location, right off the metro. The room however was terrible! We were put in the older section of the hotel, holes in the walls, mold on the ceiling, stains on the nasty carpet, and an overall musty/dusty smell. Very disappointing. The desk staff was unfriendly and even told us the wrong directions for the buses!

I liked this hotel. The rooms
I liked this hotel. The rooms were reasonably sized with a modern look. The location was just off the main drag, so the area was quiet. One of the (3 different) airport bus lines has a stop just across the street. If you are flying-in be sure you get the right bus line! It is a very short walk to the metro and regular bus stops, and only about 3-city blocks to the main train/bus station in town. There is a hotel/public restaurant downstairs as well as a number of interesting smaller ones in the side-streets behind the hotel. Great base of operations for Taipei.

Cheap and it shows
We chose the KDM hotel primarily for the location (next to MRT station and extended family) and the price (relatively cheap at US$90/night including buffet breakfast). However, be forewarned. The place is luxurious if you're a backpacker used to sleeping 15 to a room. We are a family of four w/ two kids under the age of five. While the room itself (deluxe with king) was large enough, no cribs, pillows, or extra beds were available. We had to beg to get even a single extra towel! The smell of mold was pervasive, the carpets had not been cleaned in eons, and I couldn't stop sneezing due to some sort of allergic reaction which only got better when I went outside to breathe the smoggy Taipei air. This, suffice to say, put me in a foul mood which, unfortunately, affected our family vacation. That said, the staff are friendly and nice (despite the towel situation) and you can't beat the fact the hotel is literally next to the Chung Hsiao-Xinsheng MRT station.

Great bang for your buck. Low price, great service, clean hotel, comfortable beds, good free breakfast and free WiFi. It might not be some 5 star Marriott, but it is certainly well worth the price. Right next to a subway station and you can get just about anywhere important in no time. If you're on a budget, this place is absolutely great.

Cigarette smoke smell everywhere. Breakfast not enough to eat from 9am. It will be more competitive to do an upgrade or renovation.

The MRT station is 1min walk from hotel side door, coach to airport is just located opposite the road, this is the main point for traveller when you depend on public transport, very convenient & good location

My Stay in Taipei
Decent place for business or vacation stays at a reasonable price. Noisy during the day (traffic, road construction) but quiet at night. Easy to arrange tours and the subway terminal is right outside the hotel. A bus is available from/to the airport just across the street.
