Excellent hotel: Great locations, clean room, and friendly and helpful service
I stayed in Taipei alone for 5 days, and the Hotel HD Palace was an excellent experience on all accounts. The room: I had a fairly standard room as far as I'm aware - large bed, bathroom with shower and tub, and a fair amount of extra space. Most importantly, the room was extremely clean. Location: MRT is about a 5 minute walk away (Liuzhangli Station). Taipei 101 is walkable if you're willing to take a longer walk, and large roads like Xinyi and Renai are nearby. There's a night market (Linjiang or Tonghua) about a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel, which is very convenient. Service: The staff went above and beyond to help me out and help me. They were knowledgeable about the area and its attractions, and always willing to find out any information I needed. The staff got an A+, and are the primary reason I plan to stay here again on my next trip to Taipei. Facilities: Breakfast was good, nothing special but filling and with a good selection of Western food. The 24-hour coffee and espresso available in the lobby was an excellent asset. Overall: Excellent experience, with such a good service and location that I will stay here on my next trip to Taipei.

The hotel is not very close to the MRT. Its about a 12 minute walk. It's also not very easy to find. However, the location is not bad if you plan to take taxis. If you take taxis I recommend getting a business card from the hotel to show drivers. This makes things much easier. The hotel staff spoke English well. The staff tried to hard to please and were genuinely friendly. The room was cleaned and restocked everyday. I was very happy with the cleaning staff. I would stay at this hotel again. It's not a 4 star more 3.5 but the staff and cleanliness make it a great value.

Taipei traveller
Nice, quiet, and convenient
This is a great hotel that gives you value for money in the expensive Daan district of Taipei. It is within walking distance to the night market. There is a reasonable selection for breakfast but I like the expresso machine with fresh frothing milk best of all.The massage shower in the bathroom is also great. The only small issue is - the reception is on the second floor, and there is no staff on the ground floor (unlike other fancy hotels) to greet you and help you with your luggage when you first get there from the street. The staff are very polite and helpful though.
