Hotel 73
Excellent location. Little market right next door. Nice Starbucks just at the corner, which is across from the beautiful Chiangmai Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. My Room was small & it had no window, but it was very comfortable. Needed, Asked for and received humidifier. Staff were so kind, so pleasant and eager to assist. Breakfast was very good. English was no problem. It seems every one in Taipei speaks English. Buses in front take you to Taipei 101.

At night the grounds of the Chiangmai Kai-Shek are populated by students rehearsing their dance moves. It's a lovely atmosphere.

Nice boutique hotel
Chose this hotel for its location and less expensive price. The metro station is about a 15 minute walk on the far side diagonal of the Chiang Kai-Shek memorial, which itself is only a block away.

Good information in these reviews on getting to the hotel from the airport. It was harder finding information online on getting back to Taoyuan airport from the hotel. At the Main Station the bus terminal for Kuo-kuang 1819 route is *not* the main one and it is not where they drop off when coming from the airport. The information desk at the main bus station has little maps ready to tell you where to go, but it is less walking and lifting luggage if you know ahead of time. It's definitely a money saver, but allow extra time. The terminal address is Zhongxiao W. Road Sec 1 and it (now) is called "Taipei West Bus Station Terminal A". Some older online references may call it the "east terminal" as terminal A is east of terminal B.

Some good things come in little packages.
Room was tiny, but as I didn't have a lot of things to lay out it was adequate. Hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful. However, DON'T take their offer to exchange currency. Breakfast was substantial with a wide variety of East-West foods. And, if it's raining, you can borrow an umbrella from the front desk.

My stay at Hotel 73 was great
My stay at Hotel 73 was great from start to finish. The room was sparklingly clean when I checked in and very well appointed. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent. The staff was pleasant and helpful from check-in to check-out. Breakfast was delicious – different every morning and a great selection. The location was good and central, but about a 10 minute walk from the MRT. I really can’t think of a bad thing to say about this hotel, other than that I wish I had had a few more days to spend there.

Good for a very short stay
Price was good [...]Location is really great, it is close to Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Park. I woke up early and strolled down to the park, to see many people practicing Qigong and Taichi. At 6am, National Anthem was played with impressive flag raising ceremony by guards. Breakfast was good too. The only drawback was due to the size and location of my room, there was NO WINDOW at all! I suffered certain level of uneasiness.

Amazing week trip
This was honestly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Yes, the room was a little smaller than some others I have stayed in before, but what it lacked in size it more than made for in style and service. Everyone was extremely friendly and spoke at least decent English, and the bed was super comfortable. It has a really nice location it isn't too hard to get to the MRT station from where it was. Not to mention pretty close to the Chiang Kai Shek memorial hall which is one of my favorite places in Taipei. Gorgeous hotel, highly recommended!

Fun HO73L
I arrived and was efficiently and courteously checked in. I got a cheap room, and although it was small everything I needed was there. They have set up amenities that are really practical but the hotel is more fashionable than the budget indicated. Bed comfortable, location great, etc, etc. When I tried to book a longer stay I found it was sold out. No surprise.

The hotel is about 10-15 mins
The hotel is about 10-15 mins walk to its cloest MRT station. But I found it easier to take bus and the hotel provides a very good map showing various bus routes upon check in. Room is a little bit small but it's clean and staff are very friendly. Breakfast is included, very simple I just went down to have a cup of coffee and toasts everyday. The room rate was not particularly attractive as there was a computer exhbition held at the week I was there.

Excellent service, fantastic hotel!
I was in Taipei for 4 days with my work and was very impressed with this hotel. Hotel 73 is a modern quirky hotel and which has definitely covered all the basics very well. All the facilities were there - a very good walk in shower with hot water all the time, air con, comfy bed with clean linen, tea/coffee making facilities, free internet within the room, hairdryer and complimentary use of the computer in the lobby. Having travelled from Beijing just beforehand, I definitely appreciated the extra care that had been taken at this hotel in the design and provision of basic items that make my stay a comfortable experience! The staff were extremely friendly, courteous and helpful - especially when it came to asking for advice about travelling in the local area and places to eat. The service here actually really made my stay - being a foreigner and having staff that could speak English meant that I could make the most of my stay and I appreciated times when the staff really did go out of their way to help me out so they deserve a special thank you. The location was great for me. From the airport, I took a coach that dropped me off at Chiang Kai Shek memorial Hall/Sogo (1 hour journey from airport) and then the hotel was about a 5 minute taxi ride from Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall MRT or a 15-20 minute walk. You can also catch a coach from the airport to Taipei Main Station which I think has a more frequent service to the airport and is also around 5-10 minutes taxi ride from the hotel. For someone who likes to walk, a 15-20 minute walk to the nearest MRT really isn't very far at all and was extremely convenient for the evenings when I could wander around at my leisure - and also felt incredibly safe doing so. I was in a standard double room in the hotel and this was a little cramped considering I was travelling by myself. However, I was only in the room to sleep in and considering the short duration of my trip, the lack of space in my room was not a particular problem for me. The hotel seemed to use high quality ingredients in the food but did offer strange dishes for breakfast - for example clam spaghetti and soya sauce and pork which were delicious but which I would've associated more with lunch or dinner! I'd recommend the hotel offering more bread items (especially given that Taiwan has such excellent bakeries), steamed buns and perhaps dumplings too in their breakfast menu. I'd definitely recommend going to Din Tai Fung 5 minutes walk away - an excellent restaurant for dumplings and famous for its xiao long bao. Yong Kang Jie is a market about 10 minutes walk away with plenty of food and snacks - within the market, I'd highly recommend visiting the Yong Kang Niu Rou Mian restaurant which is famous for its beef noodles. Really excellent stuff! There was also a famous award-winning restaurant that sold Dao Xiao Mian (a thick chewy type of noodle and often served with beef and in a spicy vinegary soup) but I unfortunately ran out of time and meal opportunities to eat at this place. Next visit hopefully ;) All in all a fantastic and comfortable hotel with great staff in a really good location. Highly recommended and I'd definitely return when I come back to Taipei.

Yong Kang Jie market offers a wide range of really reasonably priced authentic foods in various cafes and restaurants. Be prepared to share tables with other diners especially in busy restaurants or at busy periods and always leave room for dessert or snacking after meals!
