Ambassador Hotel Taipei

Attended an event at the hotel, so stayed there for convenience. The hotel feels old even after a recent renovation. The corridor and room had a faint smell of mildew which in itself is not unexpected for the location. I got a standard room and it certainly was. Although things are functional, the room is a far cry from what one would expect from a five star hotel. The staff, however, lived up to the five star designation. They were attentive and responsive to our complex needs. I didn't try the food at the hotel because there are lots of places to eat around. The location is superb and MRT station is five minute walk away. Overall, I am satisfied with the service I got but I suspect that one can get more modern and stylish hotel with the amount of money we spent. On that ground, I would not recommend this hotel.

A very well mantained hotel considering the age, definitely used to be the Grand Madame in its hey day. A little bit tired on some areas (such as gym and swimming pool) but it is still a very nice classy hotel. Prices are not that great value - considering there are other nearby offerings for half the price - though may not be as classy.

Conveniently located nearby the Taipei train station, The Ambassador was easy to locate & features a grand lobby in the main entrance with full service concierge & bellhop. The restaurants onsite were also plentiful, with a wonderful steak house & a daily afternoon tea set. Only drawback was that the standard room is very tiny space-wise, especially the bathroom. Besides that, the room was clean & included all the necessities such as goosedown pillows & duvets, toiletries, robes, personal safe, large LCD TV, mini bar. In addition, our room features a pull out sofa bed & had a sliding glass door that had direct access to the pool. Unfortunately, the pool was under renovation & not in use but the hotel does offer a gym & business center. I would recommend this hotel to first time travelers visiting Taipei. It does meet up to the 5 star standard that's more price conscience, thus, a bit of updating would be necessary. Walking distance to many shops & restaurants nearby including the Japanese dept. chain store.

The hotel is clean, staff friendly and helpful. Great small pool, wonderful fitness center. 5 minutes Walt to train station, but so close to downtown, night market we ended up taking taxis. NT$ 100 (average) about 3-5 bucks.

I was extremely pleased with the location of this hotel, there is a lot of fun street activity going on in this neighborhood-- lots of coffee places, boutiques, high end label stores, foot massage, street vendors, banks, atms, etc.. The public spaces in the hotel are large and modern and upscale. The lobby bar is very cool and a relaxing and stylish place for a drink and a snack. The 4th floor rooms open onto a rooftop terrace with pool and hot tub, and each room has private patio/porch type of setup. (however pool is closed beginning October). Rooms have great internet access, nice bar/coffee setup, medium sized room but very nicely furnished. Bathrooms have great FLUSH to the toilets!

The Embassador has been a fixture in downtown Taipei for many decades. I used to hear about it from my father, who stayed there often during his days as a traveling business man. It still is top notch. The service was excellent. I made several special requests about monetary exchanges and travel plans. The staff accommodated all of them! The room was clean, comfortable. The breakfast was authentic Taiwanese. The location was exceptionally convenient. It's located in the heart of the northern part of Taipie, right on the main avenue. A subway station is located half a block away.

Excellent rooms. Room service meals were not great, however this was probably because I chose a western-style dish; there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Very friendly and helpful staff.
