This is the best hotel deal in Zurich
Pete Sep 8, 2009
The location of this hotel, right across from a main train station on the airport-to-downtown line, is not to be beat. As an ... alternative, there is great tram and bus service which make it easy to do anything in town without traveling very far. And the swimming pool and hot tub on the top floor of the hotel were a welcome site after a busy day of traveling, sightseeing, and walking the Swiss wanderways.

Actually, a short train ride. The Kronehaus Hotel is absolutely worth the money.

Great Hotel in a Fantastic Location
Back from Zurich Aug 16, 2009
My wife and I were in Switzerland for about a week to attend a friend's wedding ceremony and stayed at Swissotel the entire ... time we were there. The hotel is very nice, especially compared with other hotels in Europe. The rooms are extremely clean, if a tad small and the service was excellent. The country is amazing, easily one of the most beautiful foreign countries we have visited. We found ourselves wondering at some point during the trip whether the entire country had been professionally manicured. Others may disagree but I felt that the real draw of the country was the outdoor scenery. If possible, try to reduce the money you spend on food and save it for outdoor activities - biking, hiking, and taking the train to other cities in Switzerland.
Traveler type: Couples
Food in Switzerland is extremely expensive compared with the US. To save some money, forgo eating at restaurants and grab some food at either the outside eateries/cafes or even better, eat at Migros or Coop (grocery stores that also serve food).

Great hotel at value prices
Chris Aug 10, 2009
Hotel's location is super, right next to the Oerlikon station. A bit away from the city center, but with trains every 5 mins, ... that wasn't much of an issue. In spite of its location, the rooms are pretty quiet. The airport is also only 5 mins away by train, though this can be an issue for folks with a lot of luggage as the hotel shuttle (as advertized for 8 CHF) is no longer operational. Rate included access to the fitness center and spa which unfortuntely we never made use of! :( Many restaurant options available nearby. For those driving in, parking is expensive (what is not in Switzerland!), 36 CHF per day. Maybe there are cheaper options nearby... Overall, I thought it was pretty good value for 165 CHF considering hotel prices in Switzerland.

Very Nice
Traveling Man Jul 21, 2009
The hotel is very nice and convienient to the Zurich airport and the city by train. The staff was friendly and very ... helpful. The pool on the 32nd floor was very impressive. This is a great place to stay and relax before an early morning flight out of Zurich.
Traveler type: Family
To save time and money, definetly take the train to/from the hotel to the airport rather than a cab. The train is much cheaper and much faster.

Swissotel Zurich
KJ Jul 8, 2009
While not right in the heart of Zurich, the Swissotel Zurich is right off of the Oerlikon station; about 5 minutes from the ... main terminal in Zurich and 4 minutes from the airport. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help with our requests from everything from opera tickets to ZurichCards. The hotel itself is quiet in a relaxed urban neighbourhood.
Traveler type: Couples
At 36CHF the 72 hour ZurichCard is a steal. It allows for unlimited use of all forms of public transport (including the water taxi) and free access to many of Zurich's museums. We saved a fortune.

Exceptional deal and location
BFD Jun 6, 2009
Really great deal on Orbitz for 138 USD per night. Great location. Train literally right across the front entrance, only a ... couple of stops from Airport and only 1-2 stops to the Main Tain Staion of Zurich and the center of town. This trip just takes 7 minutes on train and the trains run almost every 2-3 minutes. Train Station (Zurich Oerlikon is right across the street..EASY ACCESS. Took a great side trip right from train at hotel to Luzern without changing trains (only 46 mintues). Hotel breakfast ridiculously hight, Over 75 USD for two. Great little store (Coop) right acroos street for breads cheese, yogurt, fresh fruits, sodas, water, etc. We ate breakfast there every morning for about $4 each. Really nice area behind hotel with shops and restaurants. If you have Kids, McDonalds, Dominos, etc. close by. Starbucks is in the lobby. Great beds and pillows. Very nice baths. Air conditioning just doesn't cool like Americans from the South would expect. We opened windows at night and it was fine. Hotel has a very nice pool, steam room, etc. on the top floor. We were most disappointed the steam room was only open at 2:30 PM. Also, beware. This is a coed steam room and men are generally nude (quite a shock for my wife). Wireless worked fine, but chargeing $27 per day just does not make since. A place I would definitely stay again. Rooms a little small but just fine for European rooms. $138 USD for Zurich was hard to beat. No need to stay in town near Main Train station. It is so close and literally 7 minutes away on train. If you have a Rail Europe Pass, you get use of all zurich trains free, major discounts at other activities (like half off the $70 ticket for boat cruise on the lake) .
