Very convenient for the train, or tram
Sam Nov 10, 2009
Have stayed here before. the rooms are very clean, the bed was very comfortable, the bed didn't shake when my husband turned ... over, that was great for two light sleepers. They were able to change our room when we arrived, to one that had a bath and shower. The room we got was very spacious for a European hotel. Liked the fresh apple juice in the lobby. Also liked the TV choices, plenty of English speaking channels. The location is close to train station or tram stop.

We love to take advantage of the transportation system here. Pay for a 24 hour day pass and you can go all over Zurich on the trams, buses, trains and even the boat. Good value for money as the taxi,s are so costly. It gives you great freedom.

Nice Zurich Hotel in Very Good Location
amg Sep 4, 2009
hotel staff is very helpful. Rooms are small (standard for Europe) but updated decor and ammenities. Free Internet Access was ... a big benefit. location to train station, river area was within 5 minute walk. (buy a 1 - 3 visitors pass at the train station it gets you into museums, on river boats, on trams etc - its the best deal for getting around). Would definately recommend this hotel. We're use to excellent hotels and I would say this is working it's way there. disregard that the lobby has older furniture - the rooms are much nicer!

lots of outside cafes, restaurants etc. down the end of the street from the hotel - just past starbucks.

We spent the final day of our honeymoon with a layover in Zurich and we were just looking for something close to the ... bars/restaurants. It was a short walk away. The room was spacious and clean, but the decor was a little dated. The service was great. Overall, it was worth the price of the stay.

Fo shopping, dining, night life and other city attractions, the hotel seems within a reasonable walking distance; and at the same time, in a rather quiet neighborhood, a lil ways away from the vibrant intensity the city has to offer.

Great accomodations
azskipig Aug 20, 2009
I was given the distinct impression that breakfast was part of the packaged deal here. However, upon arrival I was told ... otherwise. The breakfast buffet is really a good spread, but then at the price of CF 32.00 per person, it had better be. For two, that translates roughly into US$75.00. Perhaps cost effective if you are a business traveler, but not if you are merely a visitor taking in the city for its sights. Found that if one walks down towards the railway station, or even close to the Limmat Quai district (a mere 5 minute walk), a good breakfast would run less than CF 30.00 for two. I would most definitely ascertain if breakfast is thrown in as part of the deal before booking at this rather expensive hotel.

Hotel Continental, Zurich, Switzerland
Nato Aug 3, 2009
Many good things to say about this hotel. Very pleasant, patient and helpful staff, spotless rooms, beds like sleeping on ... clouds, very quiet location, easy walk to the train station, tram stop and very good restaurants nearby. Some less than good things to say: air conditioning was anemic at best, only cover on the bed was a fairly heavy douvet---too heavy for the temperature in the room, housekeeping could not keep track of how many were staying in the room and left too few towels on one occasion, acted as if soap and fresh drinking glasses were the coin of the realm and were far too frugal when it came to sharing them. Advice: don't wait until your taxi is ready to take you to the airport to discuss your bill.

Good Hotel, great location
Speedy Gonzalez Jul 5, 2009
We visited Zurich and walked all around town. The hotel is about 10 minutes walking distance to Zurich's main train station. ... You can also walk to old town or the Bahnhoff Strasse (main promenade in Zurich). The hotel was clean and quiet and the staff were very professional and courteous. The bed was too soft the first night. So on the 2nd night we removed a soft mattress on our bed and it was much better.

Not as close to the city center as some same rated hotels, but close enough for the savings in price. Nicely decorated and ... comfortable room with one large bed (vs. two doubles joined). We stayed on the 5th. floor facing main street but not too noisy. Unfortunately it was warm and the air conditioning here is very poor and windows don't open, so uncomfortable sleeping. Average to good staff; helpful when asked. They were nice and gave us late check-out at 1:30 pm so we could take the morning city tour. Overpriced breakfast even for Switzerland, best to go down street to local cafe.
