Located across from a small park and a short block away from the train station. Easy walking distance to the Aareschlucht and Reichenbach falls. Friendly and helpful staff (though the restaurants waitresses at dinner seemed overextended and
Nicely decorated common rooms for sitting, reading or casual conversation. Meeting room with long table was also present. The bedrooms were comfortable and nicely appointed with such extras as water flasks and fresh fruit. There appeared to be cellar storage for bicycles as well.
Excellent breakfast with hot and cold choices is included. We had dinner at the restaurant one evening and were very impressed with the choices, taste and presentation of the food.
The daily rate was a bit more than we had been spending, however, there were 3 of us in a "resort" area. Did not check out other hotels to compare their charges.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Meirengen is a beautiful town and well situated for all sorts of outdoor activities (road and mountain biking, hiking, walking, soaring, etc.) Seems to have good bus connections to various jumping off points including Grindenwald (if coming from the Jungfrau can switch to the bus at Grindenwald or continue on to Interlocken and then switch trains).
