Perfect Location

The hotel was very welcoming, friendly and comfortable. We made good use of the Geneva public transport passes supplied by Edelweiss and were able to see a great deal of Geneva during our two night stay. The immediate area has shops, restaurants and other useful facilities. The lake is only one street away, a pleasant walk. Breakfast was rather expensive, but I would certainly stay again and would recommend it as a reasonable place to stay in what is an expensive but beautiful city.

Smells like cheese

Very convenient and has a fun, kitchy swiss theme. We got in too late to try the restaurant but it did mean the whole hotel smelled like cheese (which I suppose added to the ambiance). Also the elevator was so small we could barely fit two people in it and thought we might die the entire time we were using it. But as far as overpriced geneva hotels went this one was fine.

Comfortable, kind and polite

I had to go to the UNIL for confirming my presence in there. The bad location of the hotel made my finding more difficult. I was hurried and because I had a little bit of time, the only thing I could do is asking the receptionist to watch over my luggage. In return of hotel's bad position, they was so kind and amicable. I almost had nothing to complain about the hotel's service but to a Vietnamese like me, that 2 chocolates are priced 12 CHF is very expensive! :) In sum, it's all right!

Quaint Hotel

Hotel was in a good location. Close to buses and a short distance from the Geneva train station. Enjoyed old town and the hristmas decorations. Good location for taking day trips to the towns on Lake Geneva. Chillion Castle on the lake is worth the trip.

Charming hotel, great service

I was in Geneva for a conference. Though the hotel is aimed more at tourist travelers, it was ideal for my needs. The front desk staff was very friendly and gave much useful information about the area. Since it was a slow week, they upgraded my room even though I had a great rate already.

Good choice

The feel of a bed and breakfast in the city! Fun decor, like you've been transported to an Alpine lodge. Breakfast has typical European options which were tasty. Ask if it's included; don't assume it is. Beds were good (pretty firm). Soap, shampoo and body wash are provided; bring your own hair conditioner and body lotion. Hair dryer seems standard in all the hotels. Short walk to the water and Le Jete D'eau (sp?), the tall fountain in Lake Leman. Also near the old city with lots of great architecture. Nearby are many restaurant options (didn't eat dinner at the Edelweiss), and 2 grocery stores across the street. Save money and buy snacks, sandwiches, fruit and store them in the in-room refrigerator (stocked with drinks, wine and liquor). Ate at the Bollywood Indian restaurant next door and loved the food and atmosphere. Large screen with Bollywood entertainment plays continuously! The Edelweiss has seven floors; ask for a top floor room, facing the water. You can see the fountain and some mountains (but other buildings block most of the view). Don't expect any messages to be given to other hotel residents; staff communication was poor and screwed up 2 of our daily plans. (Get cell phones). Easy to get around the city with buses and trams; can walk almost anywhere. Buy a rail pass at the airport station if you plan to visit other cities. The Edelweiss gives each client a free tram pass for Geneva. A great value and a nice stay!
