Double room at Hotel Baeren, Bern
Room was small but very clean. There was no air conditioning, but we were provided with a small oscillating fan. The windows opened onto the courtyard so that we could let in fresh air with virtually no noise. Breakfast was very good. The location could hardly have been better for us, a leisurely five minute walk from the train station & and a block from the Baeren Platz & Parliament Building. Given that Switzerland is unavoidably expensive, this place represents reasonably good value.

right at home in the center of Bern
Excellent middle priced hotel, right in the centre of Bern; walk out the door and turn left and you're in front on the parliament, turn right, and shopping arcades abound. Walk to the park and look up to see snowy alps... the hotel is competent in the best sense of the word... not too fancy, not too plain. As Goldilocks said, "just right." Breakfast is excellent, you get a free drink at the bar when you check in, but there is no restaurant so ranking dining is not appropriate.

Long walk from hotel
walk from the town centre to the bear park, take the path below that goes along the river and follow for a couple of kilometers looking up at the city on both sides. cross footbridge and climb back up to the city centre.

Not what we expected or were told.
Staff was friendly. Hotel was clean. Every space was small; but OK. Two rooms were good, two rooms were bad. The toilet in one room didn't work for several days. Phone system was bad. One room didn't have the AC we were guaranteed. Hotel was in a great location. It's a shame the hotel pictures were just that; not the real thing...

The Count
Clean, central, and curteous staff
My wife and I stayed here one night and toured Bern. The location is excellent, right in the center of the old town. The staff was very friendly and professional. The room was spotless and had modern decor. The bathroom was also very clean. This room did not face the street and did not have air conditioning, as is the case in many swiss hotels. However, we opened the window at night to let in the cool evening air. The buffet breakfast was excellent. The bar in the lobby is nice and we received a free drink voucher on arrival. The only downside to this hotel is the parking options. You can pull up to the door to load/unload but the nearest parking area was the Casino garage a couple blocks away. It was about 26F to park for a day.

Bern great time
Rooms where great and very clean, Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location was superb. Couldn't have found a better place to stay and the local people were awesome. Even got to see the soccor finals with the local fans which added to a great experience

Short walk to the old town section with great sites and shops. All the locals were great to meet and friendly to talk with. The store keepers were very friendly and each shop gave us free gifts just for visiting.
