Swissotel Le Plaza Basel is the largest and most contemporary hotel in the city and the greater Basel area. The property is connected to the Congress Center Basel - one of the largest and most modern Convention Centers in Switzerland. The center has banquet capacities for up to 3000 people and a total exhibition space of 220000 sqm.
Located at the borders to Germany and France - Basel plays a major role as one of Europes most important industrial and commercial centers. The city*s history goes back 2000 years. The old town reflects a charming atmosphere - with many of the 18th and early 19th century buildings being well preserved. Basel is known for its diverse cultural attractions - museums - theaters and art galleries.

For a hotel that bills itself
For a hotel that bills itself as the largest in Basel, it certainly feels more like a boutique hotel. Friendly service and nicely appointed rooms. The staff is very helpful and low key. Since it's located on Messeplatz, it's easy to get a tram to just about anywhere in town. There are also some very good restaurants nearby although their own is also very good. Now, if they would just make the Internet connection free. Hint, hint...
