Hotel D

I was in Basel, assisting my friend who was being treated for Pancreatic Cancer at the University Hospital (which is a tremendous place !!!) about 2 blocks away. During our stay at Hotel D the following occurred : 1- My friend's health was threatened by the arrogant and inappropriate response to a request for water, by a member of the hotel staff. 2- It was implicated the he was lying about participating in the "Honor Breakfast Buffet" even though he was hospitalized a majority of our stay. 3- My room was barged into while I was finishing dressing, even though I responded to the knocks at the door ... to wait. Through all of this Management choose to ignore my problems. The level of frustration mounted until I realized what I was dealing with. As they say..."the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" As for the hotel itself, it is centrally located in the fabulous city of Basel (you should visit the city !)... with clean modern rooms and good exercise facilities with a front desk staff which beyond an occasional language problem, was friendly and cooperative. However noise from trolleys was like being in a railway station. The rooms were small and very cramped. Housekeeping had their own agenda and was unsupervised. Due to my diet and the food selection I choose not to have the "Honor Breakfast" buffet ( although I too, was quizzed as to participating). It was very overpriced and some of the food ...well..looked like it had been out for awhile. No parking...No room service...No restaurant. All in all the facility was eh...the rest was intolerable. You can see many verifications of my hotel criticisms on other websites. I've been traveling extensively for over 30 years and have never encountered anything like this !!!!
