Stockholm's oldest inn overlooks the bay of Brunnsviken and is located in the Royal park of Haga. In the mid-1600s, Queen Kristina used to stop at what was then stable-master Ebbe Hakanssons farm. Ever since, colorful restaurateurs have kept the proud traditions alive. Stallmstaregarden of today is a modern restaurant, hotel, banquet and conference venue yet retaining the timeless ambiance and traditions of genuine hospitality. The carefully replicated hotel is connected to Stallmstaregardens old buildings. The 49 beautifully decorated hotel rooms contain all modern conveniences and the design is inspired by the Swedish style of the 1700s combined this with the Chinese influences which were common during that time, as the Chinese Castle at Drottningholm and the East Indian Company. The hotel opened up in August 2000.

Service bad

The hotel is lovely, although a bit far from Stockholm and in the midst of a construction site. The gardens and lake site is a plus. Although it is a public park and joggers, dog walkers, kids are constantly streaming by. Our room was an upgrade to a suite, since our 1st room was a two story deal with steps so steep that with a bad knee I couldn't handle. But the real thing that stuck out was the service or lack thereof. We checked in with lots of luggage (having just left a cruise ship.# There was NO bellman to help us nor any helped offered. When we got to our original unsuitable room #and I had indicated we were an elderly couple when making the resv). they sent one girl, no cart nothing. At dinner that night on the terrace our waitress brushed off debris from our table but left the other half full of leaves. There was glass on the floor. Later that night a server dropped a tray ofglasses aboy swept it up but not very well. In the am for breakfast the shards were still there, When we ordered a glass of white & red wine. the waitress showed up with the red bottle under her armpit. Poured the white then reversed the bottles left with the white under her arm pit. Why not pour the glasses at the bar? It is a great deal for the price since inner city hotels of the same star rating were much higher but it lacks a lot in service
