The hotel is part of the small chain. The Collector's Hotels in Stockholms Old Town that is owned and managed by the Bengtsson Family since 1974. The name Lord Nelson is taken from the founders' great love of maritime antiques and parts of the family's private collection are on display throughout the hotel. The maritime theme runs like a red thread throughout the hotel and gives guests and visitors the impression of actually being on a ship. The hotel's maritime atmosphere is further reinforced in the rooms by characteristic ship style wooden floors, a port hole on the bathroom door and a ship model that is an exact replica of the antique ship the room was named after. Housed in a narrow and tall building dating back to the 18th century, the Lord Nelson Hotel is the narrowest hotel in Sweden only 6 meters wide. Consequently, the rooms are in general small, but what they lack in size, the hotel makes up for in charm and character as well as location and comfort. 3-star Lord Nelson Hotel is an intimate and familiar hotel, with a fantastic location in Stockholm's Old Town and most of the city's attractions within easy reach. The various amenities provided are dry cleaning, wireless internet access, laundry service, library, lift/elevator, lobby, non smoking rooms, reception, smoke free hotel.A Continental Breakfast is included. Lord Nelson Hotel has received The Green Key. This is an international environmental award that certifies that this hotel has an environmental policy and is actively working on environmental improvements. They have fulfilled international criteria and been approved by the Keep Sweden Tidy Foundation

Loads of atmosphere

The location and atmosphere of the Lord Nelson are its strongest points. It is a historic location and hotel with lots of artifacts right in the main lobby. It was walking distance to the center of town and very safe. Nearby the hotel are lots of small cute and tasty restaurants and other shops that are quaint if a little touristy. I liked the small room, as I was only one person it fit my needs. It was clean, quiet ,and the bed was very comfortable. I liked hearing the church bells ring the times. The breakfast is nice in the main lounge. The view on the fourth floor is pretty cool, of rooftops that are characteristic of Stockholm's old city. I was not there much but when I was it was a good place to rest and feel part of the old city.

Oldie but Goodie

The Lord Nelson (and its sister hotel, the Lady Hamilton) is in an ancient building in Gamla Stan, the Olde Towne section of Stockholm. If you're looking for space and luxury, this is not for you. The hotel has plenty of character and is filled with interesting paintings, photos, and artifacts. The two strongest assets are location and service. Olde Towne has several interesting sites, including the magnificent palace and the Nobel Prize musuem, not to mention many good restaurants and some lively night "club" offerings. The hop on-hop off boat service is nearby and takes you to several city locations at a reasonable price. The hotel staff was cheerful, helpful and amazingly responsive. The Lord Nelson is an interesting place to say at a bargain price in expensive Stockholm.

Extra charge for Internet access

Great staff. Room was very small albeit clean. My only complaint is that the listing said "Internet Access" but it did not say that there is an extra charge for this, which I found out after I had checked in. Very disappointing for a business traveler. All hotels should have Internet access at no extra charge, just as having a toilet is at no extra charge.
