Awful hotel - avoid
Just completed a trip around the Baltic. Stayed in 5 different hotels. This was my only bad experience. And by bad I would say it was very bad. Staff were rude and unhelpful. Room was noisy - barely slept at all. The photo of the outside/door of the hotel is misleading. It's in a grim, grey block, in a badly lit area next to a noisy road. Inside, the rooms are described as well appointed and kept in good condition. I would more accurately describe mine as shabby. Bathroom was very small. Breakfast was bland.

Great Location, Indifferent Service
Not very friendly service. Cigarette butts outside of rooms on balcony/roof areas at this non-smoking hotel. When staff was asked to clean up butts, they did not seem to care and never did clean them up. Rooms not very clean and one day they just didn't get around to cleaning our room. They never did, although we got fresh towels out of them. On the positive side, great, great location -- easy walking distance to all the best, most scenic parts of the downtown and old town parts of the city. Very narrow stairs to second floor - no elevator -- so there might be mobility problems for some.

Adults might be inclined to bypass the open air living history museum, but don't. This is a must see and it is tremendously well done.

maybe okay just a little
This is not a horrible place; it will do in a pinch. But the truth is, you get what you pay for. This place is cheap. And it is cheap: miserly, stingy. Clean? Yes. Breakfast? Yes. (But take your coffee cup to your room? Unuh; you have to sign it out. Bath towels the size of a dinner napkin and paper thin; room phones don't work, be sure to bring an international cell phone; etc. etc.)

Believe the reviews they're true....
This hotel isn't worth the money unless you are a single college aged person. My husband and I found ourselves in the middle of lower class singles. In fact some were a bit scary. I did feel safe but not very comfortable around this area of town. It was a bit slummy and not very charming. As for the hotel...the front desk help were not as friendly as i would have hoped. I can see why other reviewers thought they were rude. The hotel was a bit run down and it reminded us of a cruise ship...long narrow corridors with wooden doors every 20ft. The rooms were small and our shower only had one door which caused the entire bathroom floor to be covered in water. (not fun when forget and you walk in for a midnight pee and your socks are completely soaked) the windows were bolted into the window frame which made for hot sweaty nights! When I called the front desk for help they said just pull, and went on to tell me they were the only ones in house so they couldn't send anyone to help us. The only things I can think of that were okay with this hotel was they had free wifi (be sure to ask for your code during check-in....they refused to tell it to me over the phone) and they had a nice breakfast. Other than that...I highly recommend staying north of central Stockholm. It's clean safe and charming....

Basic...
I don't need much when it comes to a hotel, because I am traveling to see the city, not where I sleep. So this place served it's purpose, although the staff made my trip less pleasant, which is unfortunate. The rooms are smaller than I have ever seen, the shower was over the toilette, the walls were paper thin and you could here everything the people were saying in the next room, and there was no way to keep things cold...i.e a fridge or ice machine. One night the only nice staff member did, was to let me keep a beer in his frideg, but that was the first and last time that any employee of this hotel was anything but rude and cold. The location is great for exploring everything, it just looks like you wouldn't want to walk outside alone at night. The breakfast was fantastic and the bed was really compfortable. I won't ever stay here again, but it's the cheapest of the safe and clean hotels in central Stockholm.

Decent hotel
The location was good, the breakfast was excellent and we even got soy milk after requesting it. We would have preferred a double bed rather than twin beds

Good Value
A modest hotel, clean, comfortable, fairly convenient, excellent breakfast. I had a single room and it was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. Literally twice the width of a narrow twin bed plus 1 foot in length, plus a mobile home size bathroom. (I think it may have been typical of single rooms near Central Stockholm.)

Good, cheap hotel
Initially, I thought the hotel was a little bit too far from the city center, but it's actually just 3 or 4 subway stops away, which takes maybe 5-10 minutes? It's not in a central location, but you can walk from Gamla Stan back to the hotel in about 30 minutes if you feel up to walking. Location-wise, there's really nothing much going on in the area except for a few restaurants/bars near the subway station, which is about 2 blocks from the hotel. The hotel itself is ok, a bit basic, but it's great for the price considering that breakfast is included. No gym, but there's a sauna that you can book for free. The room that I was given was on the first floor, and I swear it felt like I had to walk 5 minutes from the reception to get to my room, it was that far away. And it was tiny, but that's to be expected. The TV is still one of those tube ones (not flat screen), and you only get 8 channels, 3 of which are in English. What I didn't like was that since I was on the first floor, I had to keep the curtains closed because anyone walking outside could see inside the room, and a lot of people walk by. Bottom line, it's a good hotel if you're on a budget, but if you could afford to spend a little bit more, I'd recommend a hotel in Norrmalm.

Don't miss going to the Vasa Museum. It's a short walk and a ferry ride away (or a subway and tram ride away) from the hotel, and inside is a well-preserved 17th century warship that is just amazing to see. Plan to spend a couple of hours looking around, and then have lunch or dinner at the museum restaurant.
