Dining

Elements
Introducing the global cuisine restaurant at The Kingsbury. Or, as they like to call it, food from the Universe, for the Universe. Here, you find out just how many more essences and aromas you haven't yet experienced.
Fisherman's Wharf
This is probably the most amazing seafood restaurant in the southern hemisphere, and they haven't yet factored in the atmosphere, the Al Fresco dining, the live cooking spectacle where you actually witness culinary magic in the making, the sea spray, the sound of the ocean and the briny winds.
Yue Chuan
While at The Kingsbury, with its European accent, its oceanic location its exotic tropicality and island warmth, do step across the Great Wall for a bit. It will delight you infinitely, as only true Chinese food can. Yue Chuan serves a selection of Cantonese and Szechuan specialities served in an extremely elegant dining environment.
Kings
Kings, lobby bar, as a matter of fact is built by Irish craftsmen so they'd feel right about calling it an Irish pub. That, dear patron is the level of integrity The Kingsbury stands for. For sheer comfort, for conversations, for the most delicious impromptu nourishment of the pub grub kind, for diverse music, and for lounging with or without an agenda, they do believe there a few spots more welcoming than this one.
Pool Bar
The magnificent outdoor infinity pool is an ideal setting to soak up the early morning sun, stroll in for an afternoon rendezvous or catch-up with friends over a pre-dinner aperitif.. The options for refreshments include delicious juices, tropical cocktails and hawker style food.
Sky Lounge
Sitting atop the royal splendour of The Kingsbury with its stately grandeur, is an unexpected jewel in its crown. The Sky Lounge, Colombo's hippest bar. Its post-modern design only complements the eclectic entertainment that is an experience in itself. And then there's the spread of indulgences. Cigars, premium champagnes and signature molecular cocktails, with the most creative comfort cuisine, and entire chocolate menus await your arrival up here.

Lovely and comfortable

I stayed at the Kingsbury on the last night of 3 weeks of backpacking around Sri Lanka. I cold cloth on arrival and a nice porter took the bags to the room. The 1st receptionist, porter and doorman in the lobby were the only 3 members of staff that were polite. The first place (out of 10) that we didn't get a welcome juice. The bed was very comfortable, feather pillows .......... bliss. Lovely toiletries and tea and coffee making facility in the room. There should be a shower in the pool area. My daughter was asked 3 times for her room number while sitting by the pool. Seemed strange as we had been sitting at the pool cafe and charged food and drinks to our room. It is expensive for food and drinks. Afternoon tea and breakfast were good. Plenty of choice. We organised an airport transfer, that got a bit confused at the time of booking and when it came to leave. Ignore the pretentiousness and it's a lovely hotel.

Beautiful hotel, shame about the view!

This hotel has lovely helpful staff, lots of facilities and good restaurants but unfortunately for them the sea view has been wrecked by a major building project with lorries and bull dozers moving huge boulders around and piling them up right in front of the hotel spoiling the view of the sea. The Dutch Hospital is just arpund the corner so location is good as long as you're not bothered by the view! The Skybar on the roof is fabulous!

Weekend get away

Very nice but the Taj is better. Watch out there is no airport shuttle and hotel charges over 5000 rp, it should be 3200 rp.
