Its fantastic location allows you to walk by the set of streets that form the historic old town to the famous cathedral, a center of pilgrimage for centuries.

- The hotel is placed in Plaza de Galicia, the center of the city, this square is the join of both cities, the ancient city, declared a World Heritage City by Unesco in 1985, and the new quarter , with people going and coming, but always in movement. At only 100 m. is placed the Alameda, typical park of Santiago with gardens, which offers the Paseo de la Herradura and one of the best view over the Cathedral. Easy to reach from here is Plaza de Abastos, at about 300 m, is a public market, a mix of flavors, tastes and colors, which offers the best products from the land and the see, the base of our gastronomy. And walking for the historical center, just in front of the hotel, is easy to found the Cathedral, surrounded by the historical squares visited for students, people of the city and visitors.

Excellent location, great staff!
I spent 8 nights at the Hotel Compostela and had a great experience overall. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable and the staff was very friendly. My only negative comments were the weak wifi signal, I had to stay close to the elevator to be check email. The breakfast was awesome! I definitely recommend this hotel.

Excellent and reasonably priced hotel
The Hotel Santiago de Compostella was centrally located-- an easy walk from the famous Cathedral. While the outside of the building is historical, the interior is quite modern and done with great taste-- not chilly and characterless like many modern hotels. The room was attractive and comfortable, as was the bathroom. The front desk staff had excellent command of the English language, which was helpful since our Spanish is limited to the most basic. There were many restaurants, bars and cafes within easy walking distance from the hotel, shops too. Despite chilly rain throughout our brief visit, we found Santiago de Compostella charming and well worth visiting. The hotel enhanced this impression. WIFI was free and available in our room once we obtained the password from the front desk.

Nice place
The staff at this hotel was among the friendliest and most competent that we encountered on our 15 hotel trip. The location was also excellent -- just across the street from the Old Town and a short 5 minute walk to the Cathedral. One note of caution: Some people have said that the hotel is "only a 10 minute walk from the train station" -- (maybe if you're 25 years old and without any luggage!) The truth is, if you are walking from the train station, you need to navigate about 50 steps just to get out of the station parking lot, and then trek uphill for fifteen minutes. It's not a long hike, but it's a tough one. If you are dragging luggage, take a cab!!

This is a great hotel in a perfect
This is a great hotel in a perfect location. The hotel is newly refurbished, and just a few steps from the action in the old quarter of the town. Staff very good. Public parking opposite the hotel. Highly recommended.

This hotel is in a great location
This hotel is in a great location right in the heart of the city, between the new and old towns. The town is small so you can walk everywhere. The service was great - the reception staff tried to help out where they could with directions etc. The hotel was renovated in Jan 2009 so everything is very modern and clean. The buffet breakfast was included in our price, it had lots on offer and was a good standard. I would recommend this highly.
