With its warm and charming atmosphere and an excellent location, 5 minutes' walk from the Plaza Mayor, the Tryp Salamanca Hotel is an excellent base for visiting Salamanca's sights and attractions. Set near the Gran Va, Plaza Mayor and the world-famous cathedrals, this is also just a short walk from the Centre for Performing Arts and Music. Make yourself at home in the Tryp Salamanca's spacious, air-conditioned and fully smoke-free rooms, with luxurious bathrooms decorated in marble. You can take advantage of convenient facilities such as on site currency exchange, and the Express laundry and babysitting service. Sporty types can visit the nearby Parque de los Jesuitas, where you can enjoy jogging or playing tennis and basketball.

The hotel, located next to a large green area, is about a 10 minute walk from the Plaza Mayor. It's an easy walk from the Salamanca-Alamedilla train stop, and about a 20 minute walk to the main train station. My room was extremely clean and in
keeping with the hotel's 4-star rating.
Location wise this hotel is close to the old town. Some of the important monuments are within a 5 minute walk. At the same time, it is far enough from the busy tourist street so that you can sleep with the windows open and not be disturbed. I
should note, however, that there is an elementary school across the street, but we were there during the weekend, so I don't know what it might have been like during a school week. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast, though convenient and with good variety was VERY overpriced: 15 euros per person! Most of our lunches/dinners were eaten in the heart of town for less than that! Skip the hotel buffet and go eat someplace else!
Mostly clean, though cover blanket had some strange stains. First night was hot (we ended up opening the windows, then found out heat was on in bathroom), but then it got cool, so we were comfortable the second night.
Recommend... but keep in mind that a four star hotel in Spain is closer to a three star in other countries, especially if you are from the States.

Short walk from hotel
Lunch time starts at around 2pm, so try to get into a restaurant right around that time. If you wait till 3, you may not be able to get in to most restaurants, and may have to settle for a more expensive, or less pleasant location. Most restaurants seemed to have excellent home cooked style meals, regardless of price.
