Touring Spain

We were assigned an interior view room, which was ugly. We asked to be moved two days in a row, both unsuccessful. Other than that the hotel was good.

First time in Madrid

This is a wonderfully located hotel in Madrid, walking distance from many tourist attractions, staff was impeccable as well as service, rates are incredible compared to their rack rate, a bargain. Great bar and restaurant, although my recommendation is go to small local spots to really savor the city.

Excellent Location

The Westin Palace in Madrid was just like many Westin hotels in the States: staff are English-speaking and helpful; our room was spacious comparing with European standard; housekeeping was first class; recently remodeled rooms are comfortable. The location was convenient with the major museums near by, and to go out to the tapas bars in the evening. The lack of complementary WiFi in all hotel rooms was inconvenient to guests and not up to the standard of an European 5 star hotel.

Short of Staff

The hotel is magnificent, amazing space and the best location in town. Rooms are large and comfortable, big and modern bathrooms. Needs more staff - no one to carry your bags through the obligatory flights of stairs to the elevators, small staff at concierge and check-in. Long waits there.

Palace Madrid

Great location! Nice staff. Has a sense of history as there is a little room or "museo" which relates it's beginnings from 1912. Breakfast was not included , but worth it for 22 euros each. Complimentary room service for tea/coffee once per day was lovely. Our room had a shower control whose steel cap was broken , but placed on the it's broken plastic mount as if it was intact! The reading lamp by the armchair was also not working. The TV did not have BBC . although our son's next door did. We did not bother reception with these until we were checking out. Fantastic glass dome in the dining area and has to be seen to be appreciated. Would stay again as thr location was second to none.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Before buying a "Paseo del Arte" for the 3 museums- Prado/Thyssen/Reina Sofia, find out if there is a free day and what times as it not be worth it to buy it. El Corte Ingles at Puerto Del Sol is a great collection of shops- they will give you 10% discount after producing ID at the customer service desk. Book Casa Patas for flamenco on-line - you get a good table.
