The rooms were a nice size and very clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially Laura who worked at the reception. She was so sweet and made us feel so at home!!! I would also recommend the breakfast if they offer you the 2 for 1 special. You can't beat the price and their selection is very good.

on arrival we were greeted with a very friendly welcoming girl on reception. Very helpful staff and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast which was extra was well worth the money :)

Location, Clean

I'm not going to repeat what other reviewers have siad. We had variable experience with the staff, although most of them were really really lovely, and helpful. The equipment for the kitchenette is not automatically in the room; you have to ask for it (I recommend you do it at check-in). They provided two each of dinner plate, large soup bowl, dinner knife, fork, dessert spoon, coffee mugs, large saucepan with lid, frying plan. There were glasses already in the room. The fridge was full of minibar stuff, so we spent the week with the minibar contents on our kitchenette benchtop. School across the way wasn't noisy at all; sure you could hear the kids but it wasn't particularly loud. In the same street, further up the hill is a wine bottle shop also sells a few cheeses, All of the convenience stores in the area are very very grotty and sell marginally useful stuff (although they do have chocolate and water, which is pretty useful). We ended up using grocery stores closer to SOL and el Palacio Real (both with in an extended walking distance). The large park that is one block west of the hotel (which contains the Temple of Bod or something) was great for a stroll in fresh air to walk off jetlag: plenty of sun and tonnes of seats under shady trees not too far from the hotel. No climbing stuff for kids, tho. In all, I'd use this place again for sure.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Vienna restaurant a few shopfronts up the hill (which I think is associated with the hotel) I had a good price for great food for sit-down meals. We got a 3-course lunch-style breakfast for 11 Euros each.

Friendly staff, excellent location

Hotel rooms were very clean and had a huge amount of space. The room designers were very modern with clean lines, and quite comfortable. The hotel was about a 10-15 minute walk from the Palace and all the local Plaza's which made it very convenient for our vacation. Hotel staff were extremely helpful in helping us find directions, point out destinations on the map, etc. My girlfriend and I would highly recommend this location for other travelers.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Definitely check out the Royal Palace and the adjacent Cathedral. Admission is pretty cheap but the views are fabulous. Definitely bring your student ID (if applicable) as you can save a few dollars too.

recommended

I was traveling with my teenage daughter and doing a lot of walking around and sightseeing everyday. The hotel was a five minute walk to the Metro and a short distance from the center of the city. The room was immaculately clean and the staff very nice and helpful. We had a fridge, stove and microwave in the room (a grocery store around the corner) which made the stay with a teenager VERY convenient.

Perfect Neighborhood to Explore Madrid

An oasis in the buzz of the city, SV was exactly the kind of place you hope to be able to come and go from, knowing that when you arrive or return you will be safe, comfortable, and still right where you want to be to quickly go back out and explore. Right above the Plaza de España, the neighborhood could not be nicer (you imagine wanting to live there), but it is very easy to walk to the Palace or Plaza Mayor. We easily walked to Pricipe Pio for the bus to Segovia as well, and other transport is convenient.

The park on the west side has a nice walking or running track and great views off to the NW edges of the city.

very nice but not the best location

very clean with friendly staff. A bit dissatisfied with the location but that wasn't the hotels fault. Quite a walk to all the squares and goings on. Asked for a laundry place to do a couple loads and they suggested their laundry...,$200 later we were quite surprised but they don't have laundramats in spain! Overall good experience- A/C too...very important in August in Spain!

Perfect location, comfortable beds, quiet room, great value

I highly recommend this hotel - large rooms, comfortable beds, and so close to the Metro. Very quite neighborhood and close to Calle Princessa, the main downtown street. Close to super market and with microwave in room you can at minimum have snacks and hot beverages available anytime. Nice breakfast buffet as well. Be aware no dishes, utensils, etc. are in the room but can purchase paper/plastic at a Chino or Super Market.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Closest Metro station only a couple of blocks away - very easy to get around in Madrid by using the Metro and very reasonable. Madrid overall is very safe as well just keep money/phones, etc. in front pockets, zipped pockets, etc.
