From our hotel, placed in Gran Via, it is only a short walk to the tourist sites such as to Plaza de Espaa, Puerta del Sol, Royal Palace, Cathedral of La Almudena, Royal Theatre, Plaza Mayor and Barrio de los Austrias (old city centre).
Hotel Sterling in Madrid, which opened in 2011 in Madrid, is located on the site of the former Alexandra Hotel. The new Hotel Sterling in Madrid was created to meet the demands of each and every customer: rooms for two people and single rooms, all equipped with the services of a modern three star hotel, and with free wifi.
From here, you can also enjoy the best shopping and entertainment in Madrid. You will have all Madrid at hand from Hotel Sterling!

Hotel Sterling is located in the heart of Madrid, next to Gran Va, and only 4 minutes from Puerta del Sol, close to many different bus and metro lines.

Gran Via, Puerta del Sol and the surrounding areas stand out as the most popular area of Madrid, where you can find, not only plenty of specialist shops and department stores, but many theaters and cinemas. Gran Va is a centre for innovation and new trends; you only have to stroll from one end to the other, to realize that Gran Via is a special street in Madrid.

Disappointed

Had a late check-in and could not get the room I wanted. Check-in person spoke no English but was pleasant and did his best to accomodate though it took for ever to check in. At least it helped me practice my Spanish! Room was disappointing - horrible view on 3 walls, bad lighting, conference room type of chair. Not really appealing but clean room and comfy bed in a centrally located area which I enjoyed. Big let down was the breakfast - very, very basic. Went out on the Saturday night with late return to the hotel. Doors closed, no one answering bell call for a good 5-10 min. OK stay but would probably not return as there are a lot of alternatives.

Surprise Find in Downtown Madrid

Hotel Sterling was quiet, very clean, with nice updated wood decor. We enjoyed a balcony patio as well. Front desk service was fantastic, guiding us to wherever we wanted to go. Breakfast was typically Madrid and filling and very worth the extra add-on. Hotel location was just off the Gran Via and close to at least two Metro stations, and a couple kilometers from the Prado area. Really much better than a 3 star hotel.

Stylish! And a great value.

Check in was a breeze. The front desk attendants spoke about as much English as I speak Spanish and were happy to muddle through the process in Spanglish with me. A nice assortment of toiletries were in the bath. *The room was gorgeous.* The hotel façade is undergoing renovation right now & half our balcony was devoted to scaffolding — however, noise was never a problem as construction went on only during late morning & early afternoon.
