Great Place at a Decent Price

We went to Madrid to go sightseeing and to attend the LDS Temple near the hotel. I choose the hotel for its proximity to the temple and was happily surprised to find it a wonderful place. The rooms were large and comfortable, the staff polite and helpful, and the location very handy. The hotel has a restaurant and we ate there a couple of times. For only ten euros you receive a soup or salad, typical main course, and desert. Nothing spectacular, but certainly adequate. Also in the area was a very good Chinese restaurant, a pizza place, and a big shopping center with a doener shop, McDonald's, coffee shop, and diner-type restaurant as well as an eight-theater cinema, specialty shops, and a huge supermarket/department store (Carrefours). Between the hotel and the shopping center is a Metro station that we used to go into Madrid--only one euro per trip, same as a bus trip. In town, we also spent one day taking both routes of the tourist bus and it was fairly worth it, giving us ideas of what to see and where they were for further visiting. The hotel has an underground garage, but it's about $15/night, and there was adequate on-street parking, so we stuck with that. We had a rental car for our weekend, but from now on, we'll just depend on public transit and forget the rental car. Back to the hotel, our room had a large area with desks, TV, wardrobes, and two twin beds. The bed area was carpeted, but, sadly, not the rest of the area. The marble floor was lovely, but cold. Wish it had been carpeted! The bathroom was nice, but small. There was plenty of room in the closet/desk area of the room. Too bad they didn't use some of that area for the bathroom. The bathroom had hand soap, shampoo (no conditioner), bath gel, comb, and toothbrush and paste and good sized towels. There's free access to a public swimming pool, though we didn't go there. There's also free WiFi access, though a daily key is annoyingly necessary. It's a good connection downstairs in the lobby and restaurant; barely adequate in our bedroom. We would definitely return to the hotel. It was nice and well-located.
