Ladies escapade to Madrid

The location of the hotel is its best feature as it is very near Puerta del Sol, the center of Madrid. It is a very easy walk to Plaza Mayor, another popular tourist area. The staff are very helpful, but do not expect for help with your luggage. The rooms are clean and tidy, water and orange juice drinks are free from the mini-bar. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

Great location

.. Older hotel, nice restaurant, rooms are a little small. Price was average. Location is great... metro station just outside... in the middle of a walking street with many restaurants and shops... even a Mc Donalds across the street and a Papizza across the street which stays open all night. Many gay bars within five blocks.

Mom & Daughter get away

We liked the location . It was very conveniently located. Hotel staff was very helpful. It was a nice historic building, but it could be little better decorated.

Hotel was adequate to below standards. Air conditioner not working first night-very hot and uncomfortable-staff did not fix it until next day. Centrally located on Gran Via within walking distance of shops and restaurants-but you cannot drive up to the hotel to drop off luggage. you have to drive around one-way streets to pull up to the side street which is a prostitute/hooker corner. Their "bosses" and "customers" are also there 24/7. Not a good impression and not a feeling of safety. Personally I do not recommend this hotel environment.

Average hotel but in the best location

The staff was nice. Very small hotel lobby not up to par based on the area located. The rooms are clean but small and there are two twin beds put together to make a queen bed, they would separate in the middle while sleeping. Also they placed one individual shampoo and body gel in the bathroom per day, even though we were a couple. There was no hair conditioner and i regretted not carrying my shampoos for my long hair overseas. I didn't understand why some hotel guests had breakfast included and others didn't! Location is fantastic, you could walk any where from there. Do not travel with children there, there were escorts in every corner!

Great location average accomodation

Only one night, but the location is superb. Very clean, nothing fancy (no need to), great to sleep and take a shower. That becomes a plus because you have to go out and enjoy La Gran Vía. Taxis, metro station, 30 to 40 euros to the airport. Watch out with the breakfast not good for the value. We will stay again because of the location and cleanliness, but will have breakfast in a better place.

Gem in Downtown Madrid

The location of the hotel was perfect. It was within walking distance of the downtown sights and right next to a metro station. The rooms were very nice -- an older hotel that has been upgraded. The staff couldn't have been nicer. I will definitely go back on my next trip to Madrid.

Don;t miss Chocolateria San Gilles for churros and chocolate. It may overdose on cholesterol, but is a must visit for breakfast -- the best in Spain.
