Perfect Location
Was thoroughly pleased with the overall experience and the location was perfect and in walking distance of all major monuments and sightseeing musts. The housekeeping walked in on me a couple of times disregarding the "Do Not Disturb" and I was disappointed that pool had yet to open even though the average temperature the 5 days I was there was 86-90 degrees.

No sleep and bug bites to boot!
The wedding reception taking place directly above my room was so loud the room literally was shaking. This lasted until the party was over...at 6am!!! I did not sleep at all. Best of all I have at least one painful spider bite and a myriad of other "unknown" bites. Not happy!

The good and the bad
The Good: - Its in a great location, within walking distance of a lot of museums and in the heart of a great shopping district downtown. - WiFi in the hotel room is free - Has an incredible pool on the rooftop, which is great if you're traveling during the summer. - Staff speaks several languages, including English - The Corner rooms have an incredible view of the plaza below, and the rooms themselves are beautiful. The Bad: - If you find a really good deal on one of these rooms, be weary: Its likely that they're located in the "classic" section of the hotel, which you should stay away from. The difference between the classic and modern section of the hotel is night and day, and its not worth paying much for. They're doing construction on the classic section as well, so there is a bit of noise. - We upgraded from a classic room to a corner room, which was absolutely beautiful and luxurious. It had an incredible shower with tons of gadgets and different colored lights... but no bathtub! I was looking to soak for a while, and was disappointed when I found out that wasn't a possibility, after switching rooms. - The staff isn't incredibly friendly, but I can't say they weren't accommodating anyway. - THE HOTEL PARKING LOT is EXPENSIVE. We paid 30 Euros to park there for ONE DAY (and night). Don't be fooled into thinking that the parking is included or at least discounted with your hotel stay. You pay for it, 100%! - No Coffee Maker or Iron in the rooms (though an iron and ironing board can be delivered to your room at no charge).

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Do not drive you car to this hotel. If you bring your car to Madrid, find a cheaper long-term parking lot at or near a train station and take the train downtown to the hotel. The hotel has great bus and train stops very close by, and parking is so expensive that it wouldn't be worth it to bring your car. Not to mention, this is a heavy traffic area, especially on protest days!
