Great location and very friendly staff

Staff is very helpful and reliable for any kind of information and booking request regarding restaurants and locations to visit. Only negative points: thin walls (neighbour customer snoring) and molt in the bathroom.

Trendy but aging

Very convenient location - walking distance to most must-see's. Rooms are starting to show their age (scratched floors, chipped sink, etc. For $200/night we paid for a standard room value was ok.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

Day 1 - Walk to Cibeles, see the Prado, then up to Puerta de Alcala and left on Serrano or Claudio Coello for good shopping. Day 2: Take train in Sol to Atocha to catch a high speed train for a r/t day trip to Seilla to visit Barrio Santa Cruz, Giralda, etc Day 3 - Walk Old Madrid (Plaza Mayor, Austrias, Roayl Palace etc)

rude front desk staff

Staff was rude and unfriendly when asked to provide very simple requests (tell me an English language news channel or set up wifi). Free wifi is only for a continuous 90-minutes. This is outrageous in a hotel of this price. Then, when I did get signed on, the security was an issue and my email was compromised. Staff did not seem to care.

Great design, warm & friendly staff

The pictures of the hotel are intriguing but they do not do the property justice! This is a beautiful "urban" oasis with top notch service, very clean rooms and public areas, and walking distance to the Prado Museum, Thyssen Museum, Plaza de Santa Ana, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel, etc. We look forward to our next visit and the friendly "hola" that we received from everyone at the Urban.

Don't miss the Mercado de San Miguel! Lots of different tapa stands, wine, cheese, and friendly Madrilenos.

GOOD HOTEL

MY STAY AT URBAN WAS VERY COMFORTABLE AND FUN. THE HOTEL IS TRENDY YET COMFORTABLE. ITS FIVE STAR RATING IS A BIT OVERINFLATED REGARDING ITS LEVEL OF SERVICE. NONETHELESS, A SOLID FOUR STAR HOTEL!

Hotel Urban

Good location - can walk to lots of places. Long taxi ride from airport - about 35 minutes in traffic. Interesting hotel. Small but well-appointed. Kinda dark though with window view of alley.

3 jours relax en couple

Excellent hôtel, charmant et avec un service autant bon que non conventionnel. Le look des employés n'étant pas le plus "banal" d'un 5* A deux pas de "Sol", emplacement idéal pour visiter Madrid à pied.
