The hotel was good value for the money. Location is great. Step out the door and there was Gran Via. Close to metero stations. We didn't eat breakfast there, but chose to eat right down the road at a local restaurant, which was nice and much cheaper that hotel breakfast. Staff was good and friendly. No complaints there. If you do book there, avoid room 202 or any rooms near the elevators. We were woken up all the time by noise from people passing, elevators running on both sides and the people in the breakfast room. If it hadn't been for the noise, this would have been a perfect stay in Madrid.

Hotel did the job!

My wife and I spent three nights at the Hotel Regente during a quick trip to Madrid. Hotel is in an excellent location as it's only a 5 to 10 minute walk to most of Madrid's main attractions. Two Metro stops are also only minutes away so that is also very convenient. Staff was fine (we had little interaction with them), we did not eat at the hotel (grab yourself some tapas in any direction from the hotel) and our room was basic - perfect for a base as we were out all day. Streets are noisy at night, but luckily that doesn't bother us. Overall, the hotel was an excellent value.

The location is superb and the price was excellent. The room was small but fine for a city stay. The bathroom was OK but a bit tired. Everything was clean. The staff were all sour, rude and very unhelpful - this is not a happy hotel. The breakfast was poor in quality but there was a good selection. Less items of far better quality would be better. There was no fresh fruit and the only juice was orange which was warm and tasteless. To charge for the safe is ridiculous.

Fine hotel; well-located

The hotel was well-located in the touristy Gran Via area, within walking distance to several museums, theatres, and lots of shopping. I suspect the room we got was among the smaller units the hotel has, but it was clean and not worn, and bathroom amenities were fine; we were satisfied. English-speaking staff were always available and responsive to requests (like accessing hotel wi-fi). If we visit this area of Madrid again I'd be inclined to stay in the same hotel. Starbucks nearby.

Shopping tip: Not Applicable

Travelers are able to get sales taxes rebated at the airport when leaving Spain. However, to do so, you need to get a specific tax receipt at each place of purchase - sales receipts will not do. Remember to ask for these specific receipts; they will not be offered automatically (at least, weren't anywhere I shopped).

Great Value Great Location

Great location in the heart of Madrid. Very close to the Metro. Got a very good deal for the quality of the hotel. No double bed, typical two single beds pushed together. Room was plenty warm in January.

Great location with friendly staff

Great location with clean spartan rooms. Perfect for a short stay with easy walking to all major sites and great restaurants. Shopping a stone's throw away. Rooms 206-208 were above the dining room which was super noisy in the morning. And there was a fair amount of street noise, but that's part of being in such a central location....

Eat a cheap breakfast at Zahara's across the street or try one of the great menu of the day lunch specials. Also try one of the Cervecería 100 Montaditos for quick and cheap eats.
