Good location for the price.

EXPENSIVE TAXI FROM AIRPORT TO HOTEL--NO SHUTTLE

The hotel is clean and the rooms are modern and tasteful. Although right next to the airport and a multi-lane high-speed road, the room was totally quiet from outside noise. The maids talked down the hall loudly for hours and this disturbed us after a late night taking-in Flamenco. It seems that all development around the hotel stopped abruptly at about 80 percent completion, perhaps because of the global economy, making it seem as if one is in a war zone. It is a 20-minute cab ride (30 Euro one-way) or a 45-minute bus and Metro ride ($2.50 Euro one-way) to downtown.

I didn't expect to pay for internet in the room.... I'm use to free wireless internet... there was no refridgerator, so no cold drinks in the room. The breakfast buffet should include beef, turkey, or chicken for non-pork eating people like myself. The eating utensils were not completely clean had water stains and some had food stains. The room was nice and comforting. I thought that this hotel was close to the airport but it's at taxi distance. Short walk to the bus stop to get downtown... No atm in hotel so you have to get cash elsewhere. Overall nice hotel, staff was polite, but I think that a shuttle of some sort should be offerred even tour trips.

Emergency stay at this near airport hotel was suffice for our needs. Overall good hotel

The hotel was very noisy, and was not as convenient to the airport as I would have liked. Because the rooms have no A/C we had to leave the windows open which added to the noise factor. The computers in the lobby did not have access to a printer, thus I could not print my boarding pass, very inconvenient.

We frequently stay in HIE hotels, knowing we can expect high standards, including a good breakfast. We were therefore desperately disappointed by the breakfast provided at this hotel. The quality and choice of the food were both far lower than anything experienced at any HIE. For example: the bread and rolls were stale, the juice contained artificial sweetenr (to which I am allergic), the coffee was lukewarm, the meat unidentifiable and unpleasantly tasteless

The Holiday Inn Express is generally much cheaper than any other Madrid Airport hotel. But don't let it's good name in the US lock you in; there's a catch! All of the hotels near/around the airport are mandated by law to provide a shuttle service free of charge. This hotel is located far away enough in a stagnant-under-developed industrial area so it does not have to comply with this. What this means to you is that although you will save $10-20 per night, you will lose 20-25€ each way on a taxi cab as that is the minimum they will charge you to leave the airport. No to mention once you arrive at the hotel, there are no restaraunts, bars, ATMs/banks, entertainment, or anything other than some abandoned factories and new industrial construction within reasonable distance. To top it all off you have to pay 10€ per day for your own (very weak/slow) WiFi signal or use the lobby PC at an hourly rate for internet access. Definitely DO NOT recommend unless you have your own transportation (friends/rental car). Pay the extra money and stay at the Hilton, Axor, or anything else closer to the airport that provides the free shuttles and is closer to residential/commercial zones.

Location was stated as being 3 km from airport. That is only true if you are a bird. Cost me 20 euros each way since there was no airport shuttle. Not worth the price when you add in the taxi fare.
