Hotel by Atocha offers comfortable stay, excellent service, good eating
The AC Carlton Madrid is well situated for access to Atocha railway station in the heart of the city. Also nearby are the renowned Madrid art museums, the Reina Sofia, Prado, and Thyssen-Bornemisza. The area surrounding the hotel has many good dining choices, or head to the chic, on-site restaurant and sample their modern spin on traditional Spanish cuisine. The room and location are OK, but the staff was not helpful at all. It seems that money is the only thing they see.

Wonderful Hotel!!! Amazing Value
The hotel was in a great location, very close to the metro (Atocha station). It was not a far walk to the city center at all. The rooms was extremely clean and the bathroom had all new shower, sink, etc. The breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day! I definitely recommend this hotel for a trip to Madrid.

Hotel Carlton in Madrid
Very nice hotel at a reasonable price. Large room by European standards. Easy access to many main attractions (museums). We had selected this hotel because we were traveling by train to and from other locations in Spain, and the train station was very close and easily accessible. We only stayed here our first and last nights in Spain, so we didn't spend much time touring Madrid, but this hotel is close to many museums(Prado). The hotel staff was very helpful and courteous. It is located on a busy street, so street-side rooms are noisy. We didn't eat there, so I can't speak to the quality of the restaurant. Overall a good experience, and we would recommend this hotel.

Great place
Great place to stay for its proximity to Atocha,El Retiro, Museo Prado etc. Easy to take Metro to other areas of interest in Madrid. The staff was very helpful and polite.

Very good location, excellent hotel room
The hotel was great... the restaurant, not so much. But there are plenty of places to eat around; and the hotel is so good, that the restaurat is not important. I highly recommend it to everybody!

Hotel most likely should be rated
Hotel most likely should be rated as a 3* rather than a 4* and the neighbourhood it is located in is quite rundown. However, accomdations were adequate, service good and access to train station very good. Only suggestion would be to have access to kettle/coffee maker in the room.

location alright, staff less so
The location was not bad. It was two blocks from a metro line, three or four blocks from the Reina Sofia and Atocha train station so was a great place to start our stay in Madrid. The staff was a bit unhelpful, we had to wait a long time to get someone to help us even though there were two people behind the desk. Once we even gave up. We didn't have any problems with checking in or out, there just had to be no one else around when you went to the desk, or you would not be helped. The room was clean and trendy with a great updated bathroom including a jet tub.

Stay here if you want to be close to the Atocha train station, but there are better hotels more central to the city.

Really good included breakfast.
Really good included breakfast. Clean modern refurbished hotel. large room with comfortable beds. But this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. There was no bellboy to help when we left, a request to bring down our several cases at 7 in the morning having been met with a terse "NO, I am on my own" So we had to do it ouselves and we are no longer young. The lift capacity is about 4 small people, preferably friends

My second stay at this hotel,
My second stay at this hotel, they again exceeded my expectations and brought value to my stay in Madrid. The prices for the internet have come down, but are still much more expensive than the Internet cafe around the corner. I will stay at Hotel Carleton again when I am next in Madrid.
