A business hotel in a non-business part of town

I studied the location of this hotel before booking it and was satisfied that I would be happy here using it as a base to explore A Coruña. I was more than satisfied. I was able to drive to the hotel, while depending on city-provided street signage, park for FREE, and explore the magnificent headlands just north of the hotel with their wild coastline, amazing Atlantic post-storm surf, and the Torre de Hercules, i.e. the Hercules lighthouse. Plus, a city bus took me into town for ₡1.30, avoiding the hassle and cost of parking in a very densely developed city. The front desk staff were exceptionally nice, my room had a fantastic view, and the work/sleep areas were more than generous. The only caveat was that the bar closed earlier than I would have liked on a Friday night, leaving me dry at 10:00 p.m., a sin in Spain!!!

A Good stay away from city center, but..

This hotel is a good stay if you want to be away from the city center. I stayed a night before taking an early flight out. * A cab to the airport at 6:00am takes about 20 minutes and 20 Euros. A cab ride to the hotel from the bus station is about 10 Euros in late afternoon traffic. So consider this into the price of the hotel when booking. * The standard partial sea view room is nice, but the double bed for me and my pregnant wife (looked like they pushed two twins together) is not as comfortable as an actual queen bed (typical Spanish hotel set up here - not impressed). * The staff is decent for being Spanish, not as standoffish as some, and helpful; but not all front desk clerks speak English, so practice your Gallego. * There are decent restaurants within walking distance, and small bars frequent by the locals. Mind you, the walk to the restaurants and bars will be about 1/3 of a mile. * The tub in the bath room is nice. Decent size with good jets. * Overall room condition, bed not included, fits the hotel rating. * The fitness room is a disaster area, so don't bother taking the elevator ride to the 8th floor. They should not even mention it! I did not try the spa, and didn't bother to find out about the pool, if there was one. * The park and beach area next to the hotel is very nice. Though there are a couple of coves with small sandy beaches, most of the beach is rock lined; but picturesque and very beautiful. It's the type of beach that you stroll along, not layout on. I would recommend this hotel to those expecting some peace and quiet, and for couples; but I would pay a little more to be closer to the airport just because of the costs of the cab rides, if I was only needing a lay over. Did I mention that the fitness center is trash? Shame on them!

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Instead of going to the city center, we decided to try the near by restaurants. We hiked to one about 15 minutes away that was recommened by a staff, but it was closed. But found a decent place to eat with good food that was reasonably priced, and the service was excellent. It probably helped that my wife speaks Spanish. We were there on a Sunday, so this is probably why some restaurants were closed. It is a small city afterall. My recommendation would be to call and check if someone suggests a restaurant. Otherwise, take your chances and try out a place that is open.

Helpful

The Hotel Eurostars Ciudad De La Coruna was helpful when it came down to checking in and also placing order to take out resturants. The room had a wonderful view of the ocean and the scenery was glorious. The bathroom had a juzzucci tub that relaxed my tired muscles from my long trip. The location was convient to downtown shopping areas and sites. The only thing that was not completed explained to me was the dining area number on my room card was not to sure what the reception on the second day was talking about or trying to explain the situation because, her comment was we had to eat room service only and I find that hard to believe. That was the only thing that had me confuse beacuse, it made me feel Like they did not want me eating from the dining room or bar area. Other than that my stay was great.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

There was a beach that was right up from the hotel and a site called De Herucules that had a nice crowd and people mingling and cooking out.
