Newly renovated July 2012. Palacio de Mariana Pineda, stately palace of the nobility built during the XVII century with a magnificent pillar of 1644, was the familiar house of te mentioned heroine, born on September 1st 1804. As the time went by, the wars, fights and life have filled of history the patio and its walls.Palacio de Mariana Pineda Hotel - Museum XVII Century keeps a magnificent central patio where a wonderful pillar stands out with an original coat of arms of the mentioned period, its lower part was made by Diego de Siloe (XVI century) and its upper part from 1644 built by the aristrocratic family of los Pisa. By the lighting central patio logs on to the different original salons and to the five rooms, main of them with incredible views to La Alhambra and the emblematic Darro river. The central patio is also communicated with the amazing cellar, made in exposed brick where an anciant wall that used to take the water in from the Darro river is kept. The five rooms, each of them with different decor, boast wonderful views. The bathrooms are decorated with handmade tiles of traditional ceramics of Granada kown as Fajalauza (Morales family since 1640), hydromassage bath or jacuzzi and views to the Alhambra.

Definitely Not a 5-Star Hotel - not even 5 Comets!!!

Where do I begin? First there is no parking at or near the hotel - you have to drive back to the modern part of the city center and park in a municipal parking lot, schlep your luggage to the taxi queue a few blocks away and take a taxi to the hotel. (Parking was about 24 Euros for the overnight of which the hotel refunded the cost of the taxi to the hotel, but not the cost of the taxi back to the parking garage - total about 28 Euros and tons of aggravation!) Once we arrived at the hotel there are many steps to negotiate to get to the front door, and a number of steps to get to the reception (all with luggage!!). Then we had a number of steps to our room, which was cold - the heating system did not work and had to be rebooted from somewhere else. There was only intermittent internet - my wife got on and lost it, while I was never able to get on. We reported it to the receptionist (afternoon) who tried to get the internet working but could not. We reported it in the morning again and the morning receptionist was downright rude and sassy saying that she didn't know it was down - that no one had told her - so how was she to know! She told me that the system was old and that we could purchase a newer internet connection for 3.95 Euros or go to a sister hotel and use their internet!! The windows of our room were single-paned so we heard the street noise below our window well into the wee small hours of the morning! And there were no kleenex-type tissues in the bathroom - we used toilet paper to blow our noses, etc. The breakfast room was unmarked and took us 10-minutes of going up and down stairs, following the so-called instructions of the staff to find it. The location of the hotel itself is perfect for night life and for visiting the Al Hambra (about a 2-km walk uphill the whole way - best to take a taxi), but it certainly was not worth the aggravation of the hotel! Never again!!!!! Very bad choice. And, why do you say it is 5-Star? They advertise themselves as 4-Star, but they don't even approach anywhere near that level! The hotel building itself is very picturesque and would make a lovely museum, but NOT a hotel! Not only would I not recommend this hotel to a friend, I wouldn't even recommend it to anyone!

Not a 4 Star hotel

First impression the taxi would not go down street, has to go all way around town. One has to climb two flights of steps without railings( no 4 star has that. Room was rustic, furniture really old, not many Ammenities , no conditioner. The help bent over backwards to assist

Great setting, poor see ice

The location and setting can't be beat, we liked our room very much. Very clean and large bathroom and eveything Was spotless. Front desk service left A lot to be desired, at one point even arguing With us about whether we'd been given keys or not . So, don't let this turn you off but don't be Surprised if this happens to you, the rooms and Price are worth a minor hassle...
