Very far from Alhambra and bad service

Our booking was for non-smoking room. However, the person at reception gave us keys to a non-smoking room that clearly was a smoking one. Even after complaining couple of times, did not bother to come check out the room. Finally when my throat started hurting at 2 in night, I yelled and got keys to a different room. No one helped change the room even when we had a small kid. The only good thing was breakfast for a couple for Eur 15.

Nice hotel, just a little out of the way

I booked this hotel because it was a good price for a 4 star hotel in a semi-major city. I only stayed for one night, as it was really just a stop over on my trip back to Lisbon. I was really impressed with the hotel: nice and clean, very spacious rooms (though i was hoping for a better view (as part of the description talks about the fantastic views from the hotel, but i think since I had the "internet special" they had a special highway view for me...lol...the staff were a bit more friendly than typical Spanish, which was nice. There are only two things I would say are problems with the hotel: Location and parking. I had a car, so it was no issue for me to get to the hotel, but once I asked them for a city map, the clerk showed me the hotel location was off the map...he showed the street and said "we are just a little bit past here." The hotel is definitely located outside of the city center. If you want to get into the city, you'll either need to take a taxi or use your car (not that I recommend driving in Granada, it's a nightmare). I talked to a taxi driver, and he said this was the best hotel in the city...brand new and nice, but really, just out of the way. My friend wanted to go to the Alhambra, which she drove the car too...she said from the hotel it was only 10 minutes driving...not bad, but only if you have a car. I would say if you don't have a car, and you stay here, be prepared to take a taxi to get you from the hotel and back. The other problem was parking. The hotel has parking, and it's nice. Underground in a private garage with direct access to the hotel elevator. However it is not free! I couldn't believe it! For one night I payed 10 Euros and a little change. I thought that was incredibly cheap of them for a 4 star hotel. It should be free. I thought maybe it was just because of buying from the internet, but apparently it is not. If I had paid the non-internet price for this hotel, and then was told i needed to pay for parking, heads would be rolling. But even for the deal price I got from online, I am still really irked about having to pay for the parking.

Time-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

A lot of places in Europe don't have street signs posted in easy places to read. Typically, they are on plaques on the corner of buildings. I have become used to this, however, I found Granada's signs to be tiny and incredibly hard to read (even more so at night). We got lost using the directions and ended up in downtown (another nightmare). I stopped and had my friend get a taxi and tell him that I was going to follow behind. I would suggest this if you get lost. Granada is not a big, big city, and it's definitely not as expensive as Madrid. It cost me about 7 Euros in taxi to get from downtown to the hotel. Madrid would have definitely been more, but it also saved us time. Before I had the bright idea to grab a taxi, we spent about 35 minutes going in circles and heading out of the city. Obviously, different cities will be more or less expensive, but if you do get lost, do yourself a favor and just get the taxi to show you. It will be so much easier and less stressing that it will be worth the price (at least in Granada...not sure I would have done the same in Madrid!)
