The magnificent location of the hotel allow you to walk to any visit you plan for your stay in Granada.

To give yourself an idea of the hotel's excellent situation here are some details of the surroundings.

Heading up the Cuesta de Gomerez, 150m up, you will find the "Puerta de las Granadas" (Pomegranate's Gate), which is the door to the Alhambra Palace.

Built on the "Bib al-Buxar" (or happy new's gate) a defensive tower which was one of the entrances to the city. It is located on the ancient gully of the "Sabika", between the Alhambra and Mauror hills. It is the gate to the walls, and it natural access from the city , between the "Torre de la Vela" and "Torres Bermejas". If continuing the going up, we reach the ticket office for the visit to the "Nazaries" Palaces and the rest of the monuments. The bus-stop is 100m far in Cuesta de Gomerez and Plaza Nueva corner, where buses take people to the Alhambra.

Localization in a historic center and at the door of the Alhambra.

Close to Alhambra

Greeted by pleasant staff who notified us that our tour company contacted them. Our room was perfect, however the bathroom needs a new ventalation system and new shower doors. We were only in Granada for one night with Alhambra being our focus - the hotel is a ten minute walk down Alhambra with little shops to stops at on the way down. Also very close to Plaza Nueva and the Cathedral.

You couldn't find a better place in Granada

I booked this hotel because of it's location-- just a 7 minute walk from Alhambra. But it was also just a 7 minute walk from great shopping! The staff was very accommodating and friendly and took their time with each client. The hotel is small which gives it an intimate atmosphere. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

great hotel

The staff and location of this hotel nearby the Alhambra couldn't be better! Staff consistently were helpful and kind and we could easily walk to the Alhambra and cathedral. The room was incredibly small (no obese travelers here), but clean. A very, very long walk from the car park (you're not allowed to drive a private car in this part of the city), but once we learned the buses, it was an easy trip. We would definitely stay here again.

Can I give it a '10'?

This place was the find of a lifetime! I'm almost afraid to rate it because it'll be 'sold out' next time we go. We flew to Granada, took a bus into town and then, after 30 hours of travel, took a taxi to the hotel. When the driver stopped, I wondered where the hotel was. It was inconspicuous from the outside and you'd walk right past it if you weren't looking for it. But what a gem of a little hotel! We were greeted by a young woman at the desk who informed us that our reservation had been upgraded at no extra charge and got us checked in promptly. She then gave us a map, pointed out all sorts of local attractions (restaurants, tapas bars, etc.) and made us feel like we were the most important people she'd seen all year. We took the elevator up to our cozy room and were amazed. From our little balcony we could see the towers of the Alcazaba with it's flags flying! The room was clean, the bed comfortable (firm), everything we needed was there and we had a good night's rest. The next morning we went down to the breakfast room for a nice offering of cereal, rolls, cold cuts and cheese, yogurt, coffee/tea, etc. -- our idea of a perfect breakfast, and only 6 euros. Since we'd booked a guided tour of the Alhambra (from home via the internet) we had to walk to the fountain at the Plaza Nueva to meet our guide... it was only about a 3 minute stroll down to the corner! After the tour (take it -- you'll treasure the experience forever) we walked down the hill by the route we'd taken in the mini bus. Just a beautiful walk. It wasn't until later that we discovered that you can leave the hotel and walk UP the street about 150 meters to the Puerta de Las Granadas! The hotel is PERFECTLY LOCATED for any site seeing you can imagine. We took the shuttle bus from the corner up to the top of the Albaicin quarter and walked down the hill through historic streets and along the river. Later that night we walked down to the area around the cathedral and shared the joy of Christmas shopping with throngs of locals! The whole experience was magical... and it all began and ended with the Hotel Puerta De Las Granadas. A wonderful, professional and friendly staff, clean and comfortable accommodations, and excellent price, and the PERFECT location!

The Alhambra, Plaza Nueva, the Cathedral, art museums, shopping, parks and fountains, historic Albaicin quarter -- everything you might want to see is literally just outside the door of this wonderful little hotel. So are taxis, busses and shuttles in case you don't like to explore on your own -- and the staff is always pleased to assist!

absolutely perfect!

This hotel is absolutely perfect for a visit to Granada. It was an easy bus ride from the train/bus station, and then a short walk - maybe 10 minutes - to the hotel. The location is quite near the main square, and you can easily walk or bus to the catheral, the Albyzin neighborhood, and Alhambra. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area. The hotel is very clean, well furnished, and the staff was very helpful in explaining how to pick-up our Alhambra tickets, where to eat tapas, etc (and they were all so friendly!). The hotel is very reasonably priced, and there is a lovely patio area if you want to sit with coffee or a sandwich. If you are visiting Alhambra, this is the hotel to stay in. A 15 min walk (uphill, but there are benches for rest stops!) from the hotel to Alhambra. We went on the evening tour and then went during daylight the next day. It is definitely worth doing both, but be sure to purchase your tickets well ahead of time for the daylight visit! And definitely stay at this hotel!

some of the guidebooks say you can skip the Cathedral -- don't! We found it spectacular (in a week in which we also visited cathedrals in Madrid, Toledo, Seville and Cordoba). Also, Granada is worth at least 2 nights - it is a lovely town and we felt very safe there. Everything is easy to walk to, and prices are very reasonable.

I would never recommend the place to anyone

Unfortunately for us dealing with Granada hotel and parking turned out to be a disaster. It took more than an hour of driving around in the camera restricted center to find out that the address of the parking that the hotel pesonnel gave me on the phone was not right. Then the lady at the hotel misled us about the location of the ServiCaixa terminal where we had to withdraw our tickets for the Alhambra, needless to say we had a certain hour for entrance to the palace and we were really nervous making it on time. On top of it after coming back exhausted our key cards wouldn't open the room ?! and there was no hot water. The room was the size of a closet, the bathroom accordingly with no privacy at all, so if you travel by yourself it may work, but for us it was a claustrophobic experience. Beautiful city but we were happy to leave.

Friendly & Helpful

The excellent reviews of this hotel are all spot on. All the staff members not only speak English, but are some of the friendliest & most helpful we have ever experienced. Upon arrival, Manuel helped us carry our luggage into the hotel, anticipated our needs for tickets to Alhambra and a flamenco show, but provided us with a map of Granada, and excellent recommendations for dinner at a nearby restaurant who served local cuisine (sorry, don’t remember the name!). Unless you’re really into a Spanish style breakfast of cheese, chorizo, and bread, save your 7€ on their breakfast. I would DEFINITELY stay at this hotel again and recommend it to anyone traveling to Granada.

Alhambra: We tried to book tickets to visit the entirety of Alhambra a week in advance, but the ticketing agency said they were sold out for 2 weeks! Once we arrived at this hotel Manuel offered to sell us the same complete Alhambra tickets for only 1€ extra – we gratefully accepted. The hotel is along the same street as the door to the entrance of the Alhambra woods, so the hotel location was perfect. Once we arrived at the Alhambra entrance to pick up the tickets the hotel had sold us, we discovered that the line for the people who had booked the tickets directly must have been 20 times longer (no lie, it was ridiculous) than the short line for those who had booked with an affiliate (ie, a local hotel). Luckily, it turned out that we weren’t able to book tickets in advance & we were grateful for the much shorter wait. Flamenco: The flamenco show left a lot to be desired. If you’ve never been to see flamenco & your only chance is the show the hotel sold us, it’s better than nothing, but only just. I’ve seen a lot more shows than this one after spending 4 months in Spain years ago & this was the poorest flamenco I’ve ever been to. The cost was 35€ per person & there’s a free bus shuttle that will pick you up & take you to the show and bring yo back near to the hotel. None of this I hold against the hotel; I still felt they were genuinely helpful in trying to get us tickets to everything we were trying to experience in Granada.
