Great Location for Alhambra

Most important feature is location so close to Alhambra (walk to entrance in 5 minutes or less) at a very reasonable price. Hotel food for dinner and breakfast was rather basic, but adequate. Car parking very convenient and, by Spanish standards, not too expensive. More precise information (in on-line advertising for the hotel) about Hotel location (that it's literally alongside the Alhambra site and not in the town of Granada at all) and exactly how to get there by car (by circumnavigating Granada (if coming from the west, say from Cordoba) and following the Alhambra road signs to the Alhambra parking area) would have been really helpful.

Make sure you've done your (internet) homework about what's at Alhambra and how it all fits together, as the map and audio information provided at the site, while generally helpful, lack real coherence and context.

Disappointed!

TERRIBLE location if you are renting a car! We had to PAY a tourist guide from the Department of Tourism 10 Euros so that he could escort us while on his motorcycle!

Not half bad

Could pass as a 4-star hotel in an excellent tourist location, at the very gate of the Alhambra. But the management is limited, the restaurant awful, and there are not many people around to help. Pity the rooftop pool is tawdry and unheated. The place is really OK for an out of town resort, cheap too.

Restaurants nearby, down a steep hill, are clean and offer good menus.

Trip to Alhambra

Alhambra's entry is a short 5 minute walk from alixares which is important as is better to buy the ticket in the early morning. People start doing the line at 7 am though alhambra opens at 8 am. They have buffet for the 3 meals at a good price. You can leave your bags there if you have check out and pick them up later. A taxi to the renfe station was 8 euros.

Great hotel

This is a wonderful hotel if you don't mind walking up and down slopes to downtown. It's quite close to the Alhambra and the east side of Granada, and in relatively close proximity to most of the sights to see. The hotel was really clean and tastefully decorated, and the staff at the reception desk were very helpful. They could speak English but reply in Spanish when they can tell you want some more experience with Spanish. They're also very helpful. The hotel is located in a very scenic part of Granada as well - surrounded by trees and mountains, and is away from the hustle and bustle of the city (although is within walking distance from downtown). I really enjoyed staying in this hotel.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

When you walk from the hotel toward downtown, there's a small pathway to the right called the Cuenta de los Chinos. It's a beautiful pathway that leads to two outdoor restaurants that face Alhambra (we ate at the Bar de la fuenta, listening to flute players and looking at the Alhambra lit up at night). It's breathtakingly beautiful and highly recommended.

Great atmosphere and excellent service.

Walking distance to the Alhambra (if you are planning on visiting Alhambra, make sure you buy the tickets before you get there as you might run in the problem on finding the tickets are sold out). Excellent service. If you get tired of the spaniard food which I doubt you will, you can always get a pizza delivered to your room, we did that one night and it was very good. Bring comfortable shoes as you will walk a lot especially up and down hills. Transportation from hotel to the center of town is very easy as you will find a bus stop within walking distance from the hotel. The only thing I didn't like that much was the bed, not that comfortable, but then, that is the same way for most of the old towns in Spain. Don't expect a bed that you will find even in a 3 stars US hotels.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

While in Spain, if you ask for the "Menu del Dia" (Today's Menu), you can save a lot of money and that includes 2 dishes, bread, dessert, and most of the time one drink. The food from the "menu del dia" is very good. We've been in Spain for 2 weeks now and I have to say that we have save lot of money that way and from all the Menu del Dia we have ate, I can only say that only one was not acceptable. :)
