Ampng all the artistic whole stands out an exquisite Nazari capital carved in alabaster, which makes it a unique piece of art in the world.
Wooden beams original from the XVIth century are leaned on the artistic whole. These beams support tcond floor of the building. From the main bright courtyard one can have access to all rooms and the balconies.
The renovation of the hotel has been carried out looking for the original materials to preserve the atmosphere of the XVIth century.

Great location, amenities, and service!
We had a great experience at the Hotel Casa del Capitel Nazari in February 2012. We arrived very early (around 9:30 am) due to an early flight and assumed we would just drop our bags off so we could start exploring the city, but the reception clerks very kindly checked us in and gave us our room key right away. We were in room 23, which is small and and has two twins instead of a full or queen, but for one night it was fine. The bathroom is also tight, but totally serviceable. The heaters were on, so the room was nice and cozy as soon as we got in (which was great because it was an icy morning!). The wi-fi worked well (remember to ask for a password at reception when you check in or you'll have to go back downstairs to get one). Even though the beds didn't seem too comfortable when we sat on them, we had no problem sleeping at all. The following morning we had the continental breakfast because it came with our reservation. It was a really good hotel continental breakfast (quite possibly the best we'd ever had), but maybe not worth 9 euros each, given that most people wouldn't want to spend 9 euros each on any continental breakfast. But we did enjoy the variety of standard continental breakfast items (yogurt, granola, hard-boiled eggs) combined with some local specialties, like bee pollen, fruit and vegetable preserves, etc. We checked out at about 9:30 am, but left our bags because we planned to explore the Albayzin that morning and see the Alhambra in the afternoon and our flight didn't leave till late that night. Again, the reception clerk was very gracious, let us know what time to catch the bus back to the airport that night, and encouraged us to come back to use the restrooms, take tea/coffee in the afternoon, and relax in the salon if we needed to during the day (which we did). In addition to all this, the location really can't be beat. It was a great home base for exploring the Albayzin by foot, it was only a few minutes walk from the Cathedral and the buses to the Alhambra and Albayzin, and it was close to a variety of places to eat and drink. It's also easy to find if you're walking from the Cathedral where the airport bus lets you off. You just walk towards and through Plaza Nueva and then there are signs naming the hotel, leading you in the right direction. One last note is that although we were able to reserve the room with AE, upon arrival we had to pay for the room with V or MC. This didn't pose a problem for us, but seems like it could for some folks so I wanted to point it out.

Excellent Location
The hotel is located next to Plaza Nueva. Easy access to The Alhambra via walking. The staff is super helpful. I did not have reservations to The Alhambra and Rocio, one of the staff members, was able to provide a reservation and gave us an explanation of how to get to most of the sites. The Albaizin is a great neighboorhood to walk around and experience the feel for Old Granada. Many books say that it is dangerous at night, but we did not feel unsafe at all throughout the 3 nights we stayed. The rooms are small and there are not too many amenities in the hotel but it compensates with charm and cleanliness. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Granada.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
The views of The Alhambra are spectacular from St Nicholas Church and Plaza. There is an outdoor restaurant with great views of the sunset to the left of the Plaza. The food is expensive, but drinks and coffee are not. Stay for a few drinks and enjoy the view.

Highly recommended. The staff
Highly recommended. The staff are exceptionally friendly, efficient and helpful - and this 16th century building is delightful, bursting with character and courtyard spaces - almost like a moroccan riad. Only negatives: the reception is sometimes a little slow to answer the door & the mattress in our room was very hard! Nevertheless, we would book again. The location is ideal, yet the rooms are quiet.

A really nice quiet hotel but
A really nice quiet hotel but the most of the staff (except one) were not very friendly or helpful. I had booked a double non-smoking but got a twin smoking room. When asked if we could change the room we were told there is only 1 room left which was very tiny room with a double bed (meant for a single person). We then asked if we could upgrade to a suite as happy to pay the difference and was shown a beautiful room which we were happy to take to be then told that it was only available for one night and then we would have to move back into the smaller room – I don’t know why they even bothered showing us the room??

October 2009 two night stay
The hotel has an open atrium with tile floors. The rooms around the atrium are very noisy and quite small. We also did not get a "double bed" - we got two twin beds pushed together, which is fairly typical for Spain. I would insist on a real "marriage bed" and request a room that is not on the central atrium. There is quite a variation in rooms, so this makes all the difference. But if you get a nice room, it is a charming hotel. Simple, but good value and has character.
