Had a great time at this hotel. The only disappointment was that we were not allocated the twin room we had specified so one of us had to sleep on a put you up bed which was comfortable but not as good as the normal bed. Drains in the bathroom
were smelly from time to time. Nonetheless we had a very spacious premier room due to a unexpected upgrade and despite the two negative issues the stay was very enjoyable. The location by the park and river was scenic and quiet but only a few minutes from city centre. Staff were all helpful and friendly. I would stay here again if visiting Bilbao.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
Italian restaurant on the other side of the small park is great.
We didn't realize we had booked a 5-star hotel before showing up to Hotel Melia, but were very excited to see that we had since it was our last night of a two-week, go-go-go vacation. The hotel is just a ten-minute walk from the bus station (which
was convenient for us), right along the water (which was beautiful), very near the Guggenheim (another plus), and about a 20-30 minute walk to the Casco Viejo. The rooms were large, clean, all the amenities were there, and the staff was helpful and friendly -- and the price was great. What more could you want?
