A classic, traditional-style hotel, the Carlton has 143 rooms with diverse details and eight meeting rooms for up to 300 people. The classic elegance of the Carlton begins with a colossal chandelier in the hall entrance and continues in every detail throughout the hotel. Guests will find the atmosphere both relaxing and comfortable. One of the most emblematic building in Bilbao, the Hotel Carlton was designed in 1919 and completely renovated in 2010 to adapt it to the most demanding tastes. The Carlton offers tastefully decorated rooms in a contemporary style and enjoy all facilities. In its lifetime, the building has been the seat of the first Regional Government and witness to important social and cultural events. Some of the worlds most famous figures, such as Federico Garcia Lorca, Albert Einstein and Alfonso XIII have slept in its bedrooms. Today, it is an Historic Architectural and Cultural Monument, whose artistic finesse is apparent in every detail. In the heart of Bilbao, the Hotel Carlton lies next to the main shopping streets of Bilbaos Ensanche quartier, a short walk from the Guggenheim Museum, Fine Arts Museum and The Maritime Museum.

A classy, grand old-fashioned

A classy, grand old-fashioned hotel in the heart of Bilbao with large, comfortable well appointed room and bathroom. No tea or coffee making facilities in room. Private car parking. Nice balcony with our room and very good value overall. Staff friendly and helpful.

Beyond Expectations

This is the perfect hotel for a visit to the Guggenheim or just a visit to the city. The staff was very helpful with information and made fantastic dinner recommendations. The rooms were spacious and well appointed down to the free bottled water. Overall an elegant gem at a reasonable price.

Try the Metro just blocks from the hotel for a great meal with a free calamari starter!

Nice hotel! The interenet connection

Nice hotel! The interenet connection is however very mediocre- if not impossible to use. Would be my only good suggestion for this hotel to improve on.

Centrally located in the main

Centrally located in the main square. Guggenheim is a short 10 minute walk, and the old town 10 mi walk in the other direction. The hotel has some charm.
