This is a formidable family run hotel with laid back but professional service and unbeatable location. There is also a TV lounge, safe in reception, car and bicycle rental service and helpful receptionist. Ideal for budget travellers. (11/09 dv) The building that houses the Hotel Peninsular was a convent of the Augustinian order and the monks' chambers were converted into guest rooms. Located in the heart of Barcelona, hotel Peninsular occupies a single building situated in the Raval quarter, only a few steps away from Las Ramblas, Boqueria Market, the Gothic quarter and less than ten minutes walking from Plaza Catalunya, Casa Batllo, La Pedrera, the harbour and all Modernist landmarks in Barcelona. The Raval area is well-stocked with shops, restaurants and bars of bohemian atmosphere.
