This wonderful hotel has a perfect location right in the city center, less than 10 minutes away walking from Plaza Catalunya, Las Ramblas, the Gothic quarter, and next to the famous Born district - popular for its design shops and tapas bars. The hotel combines old style with contemporary elegance, a recently restored modernist facade of the XIX century with a contemporary interior design and decoration. In summer guests can relax in the swimming pool on the roof and enjoy the views having a drink at the terrace bar. If you are hungry, Corella restaurant serves delicious Mediterranean dishes all day long. The hotel's 145 ample, elegant, and luminous rooms are equipped with all facilities, such as air conditioning, wooden floors, satellite TV, mini bar, private bathroom, hair dryer, so that both business and leisure travelers feel like home. FREE WIFI in Lobby & Rooms Parking available: 24 euros per day

First time in Barcelona

The hotel was gorgeous. The accommodations, restaurant and rooftop bar/lounge/pool provided were top notch. Located near public transportation and within walking distance to a lot of attractions, I would stay at this property again. One tip during the hot summer months to keep the AC going - leave one of your hotel cards in the entry slot and keep the door to your sleeping quarters closed. It made a big difference!

Central, yet slightly off the beaten path hotel

I switched to this NH Hotel because the other one I was staying at (NH Centro) was in a hectic part of town and was a 3*. The Superior Room at NH Podium was spacious, with a recessed bedroom and the bathroom on the top floor, which gave the room a really nice dimension. The small french balcony was very refreshing. I could hear the sounds of the street, but it wasn't overwhelming, and there is some form of noise cancelling device in the room that I didn't quite figure out. The terrace was lovely, I basically had it to myself while I was there. I didn't use the gym, but I recall it being basic with all the necessities. The restaurant staff were extremely friendly. Wifi worked great, as is usually the case with NH Hotels.

Convenient enough and spacious rooms

I stayed in three NH Barcelona hotels, and this was the best. Granted, this was the only 4 star of the three, but you felt the difference in the extra star! Wifi works well, the Superior Room was very spacious and had a separate bathroom area, so you have some privacy. The rooms with the terrace were very sunny, but you will hear the sounds of the street. The tv was new, and I figured out how to remove Spanish voiceovers on Channels Neox and Paramount for some shows that were originally in English. There's adequate outlets for charging. The terrace was lovely, the gym is basic but functional, and room service was reasonably priced. There's a restaurant across the street if you want a cheap bite, and while it isn't dead center city, it's close enough...and you don't have to fight through the masses to get to and fro! Taxis wait outside, which is convenient. The closest metro is a 5 minute walk away.

I had a great experience here. The staff wasn't super friendly but they were helpful and friendly enough. It was a good location to the metro as well as walking distance to a lot of sites.

city trip

The hotel is approx 15 mins away from Placa Catulyna square,so if you dont mind the walk its a great location From the moment we arrived at the hotel, the staff were so helpful and friendly. the room on the top floor was wonderful, it had tea/coffee facilities; bath robe with slippers and it was quiet, hence I had a good night sleep. A few steps up to the roof led to a small pool with a bar, it was great to come back after sightseeing all day and cool down in the pool. I would definitely recommend this hotel, particularly for couples.

Good location but average amenities

We stayed here for 3 nights. The location is very good. In a quiet residential neighbourhood about 0.5 miles from Las Ramblas and even closer to Arc de Triomphe. Also close to various metro stations. However, the amenities are at best average. Our room did not have a kettle and tea/coffee facilities. This is bog standard for any 4 star hotel and when asked they said it was only available for superior rooms! So we had to pay 2 euros for a standard tea each morning! Again when we asked for swimming pool they said it would open only in summer despite us confirming at the time of booking that the pool would be open. The breakfast is also overpiced at 22 euros per person.

Four Nights in Barcelona

My wife and I stayed at NH Podium for four nights, October 15-19. We were greeted at the reception desk in English - what is it about us Brits that everyone can tell even before we speak? Check-in was quick and painless. Our room was directly by the lifts so was very convenient but on the negative side, we heard every arrival at our floor. Our booking was for room only, although breakfast was available either via room service or in the restaurant. We did enjoy breakfast on one day and were pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the food though the price was a little steep at 18 euros each for a continental. The location is pretty good, only 3 minutes walk from the Arc de Triomph and about 15 minutes from Plaza Catalunya/north end of Las Ramblas. We had only two criticisms of the hotel which were; that the walls are stud partitions with very little soundproofing. Consequently we could hear every conversation our neighbours had as well as their TV. It was fortunate that they were not too energetic in the evenings!; the TV had only 8 of 12 available channels working and of these, only one was in English - Russia Today! We don't go on holiday to watch TV but it would be nice to be able to catch up on news from home etc. Perhaps we are spoilt but most other hotels we have used recently have had some form of cable or satellite TV connected, with something for everyone. All in all our criticisms are minor ones and we would defintely recommend the hotel to other travellers.

Dining tip: Not Applicable

Ask the price of drinks in restaurants before ordering. One bar charged us 15 euros for a small glass of wine and a large beer. Another restaurant charged nearly 20 euros for a half bottle of red wine and 15 euros for 2 beers.

Wouldn't Recommend

Hotel staff was very unpleasant and not helpful. Matress was extremely uncomfortable and the room had some wear to it. The weight room is outdated, falling apart, and unsafe to use. This may have been a 4 Star in the 90's, but more like a 2-3 star nowadays. I would recommend staying at a hotel further down the Gran Via towards Las Ramblas, in the heart of l ' exiample.

Romantic Week In Barcelona

My new husband and I began our honeymoon in Barcelona at the NH Podium. They set us up with what was probably the best room in the hotel; a junior suite in the front with high ceilings. It was very quiet and comfortable. The location was very central and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only negative was the payed internet; it was expensive and slow.
