Great Hotel right in the Gothic District
Mom on the go Nov 12, 2009
I stayed at the H10 Montcada the night before and after a cruise. This hotel is right in the middle of the action in ... Barcelona yet very quiet. I stayed in room 703, the best room in the hotel..request it if you can. It is a corner room so you have a wonderful view of the city, breathtaking at night. The staff is very friendly; they allowed me to keep my luggage in the luggage room while I toured the city before my room was ready and after checkout time before my cruise. Las Ramblas is just two blocks over, Cappucino cafe right across the street, Starbucks down the street, and lots of shops. I plan on returning to Barcelona next year and will definetly stay at H10 Montcada. The only negative thing I can say about this hotel is the jacuzzi on the roof, it was cold, never got even warm.

There are a number of shops on the streets behind the hotel that are a lot cheaper than the tourist traps on Las Ramblas. You have to go to the pier just a few blocks away for people watching, shopping, and to view the local artist.

Great Location and Hotel
S* Nov 10, 2009
The staff was very friendly. We didn't speak a lot of spanish and they were very helpful when we had questions. The location ... was great. It was by all the cute little streets that are lined with shops and restaurants. It's also right by the metro stop so you can get anywhere in the city by subway if you don't want to walk. The hotel room was clean. The beds were a little stiff but every place in Europe seemed to be that way. The pillows were soft though, so that helped. Overall I thought it was a great place to stay!

Two nice restaurants we found that were almost right around the corner were Taller de Tapas (http://www.tallerdetapas.com) and El Rovell del Born (http://www.elrovelldelborn.com).

The rooms are nice - but the beds are small, so if you travel with a child you should arrange with the hotel before. (They´ll ... give you an extra bed in the room.) The terasse in the nineth floor ist really a great place to relax after walking yout feet off visting Barcelona.

Exceptional Barcelona Location
Mikara Oct 28, 2009
Our tinme was short ..two nights at the end of a Honeymoon. The first night we were dissappointed with a rather small room ... and noisy over the alley way. The staff changed our room to something a bit more sizeable and at a higher level to get away from the street and alley noise. Bed was comfortable; atmosphere contemporary. Breakfeast Brunch was exceptional.

H10 Montcada Hotel in Barcelona
Sean Oct 27, 2009
The hotel staff was very friendly, though they were quick to point out that the special request for 2 beds never got to ... them. They were able to put a cot in the room for us. At first, we were alarmed as the reception staff asked that we keep our credit cards and passports in our luggage that they were storing for us (we arrived several hours before check in time). They explained that it's very easy to be pickpocketed in Las Ramblas, and that these things were safer with them. The hotel room was small, but very clean. It was VERY noisy in the neighborhood on a Saturday night, but the neighborhood seemed quite safe and people were friendly. I really liked this area of Las Ramblas.

Pickpockets are in this neighborhood, so be sure to keep your valuables safe. Don't leave your luggage unattended for even a minute, and be sure to keep your wallet in your front pockets.

Overall a very good choice with a perfect location. We were there for 9 nights and though the room was small it was well ... arranged with ample storage space. We did lots of museums and architecture tours. Don't miss the excavated Roman city underneath the Museum of the City right across the street from the hotel. We asked for a 7:00AM wake up to get to get our flight home and they forgot it. Luckily we woke without it.

It was a very enjoyable experience at the hotel. Very clean, and the hotel service staff and desk were great. Had no ... problems or difficulties at all. We even were allowed to leave our bags at the hotel for a couple of extra hours after check out. We could not be more please than what we had.

Find out how to get to your hotel and print a picture of the hotel before going. Knowing exactly what your hotel looks like on the outside will save you quite a bit of time instead of wandering around the streets looking for what may be a small sign.

Enjoyable Vacation
LA Traveler Sep 23, 2009
My friend and I had a lovely vacation in Barcelona and our stay at the H10 Montcada certainly contributed. The location is ... great, walking distance to the water, in between the Born and the Gotic neighborhoods. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the best meals we had were recommendations from them. In addition, our room was quite charming. It could get a little noisy at night with the window open, but it was not awful. We shut the window and slept like babes.

After flying all night, we checked in at 8:30 am. The staff was extremely helpful during our entire stay. The helped us with ... a step on/step off tour and made reservations for us at an excellent restaurant. The hotel is in an excellent location, right between the Cathedral and the Picasso museum. We enjoyed the bar on the rooftop and the breakfast as well.

We just returned from 8 nights at the H10 Montcada. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. The staff was friendly, ... the hotel was beautiful, the location was ideal (right across from the Jaume metro stop), and the facilities were spotless. The rooms were on the smaller side, but we were completely OK with that. The bathroom was very nice, as was the decor in our room. Barcelona comes alive at night and the hotel is located in a popular part of town. Because of this, you could hear the hustle and bustle of the city from the room at night- but we thought that added to the fun (and it didn't keep us up at night). My only other (small) complaint was that the bed wasn't the most comfortable in the world. That all being said- I could hands down stay there again. We loved starting the night enjoying the fantastic views on their upper terrace for a cocktail (their mojitos are the best!).

There are great restaurants and bars all around. Our personal favorite was just around the corner from the hotel on Princessa,11 called Txirimiri. It's a great setting with a fun menu. We ate there several times. They have fantastic tapas, bocadillos, and sangria (la septem was amazing!). I could go on and on about the fantastic hotel location bordering on La Ribera and Barri Gotic- which are both beautiful, historical neighborhoods. You will love wandering the labyrinth of streets stumbling upon incredible buildings and cute bars...all minutes away from your hotel.

Barcelona Bus Turistic has several day trips which leave from Placa Catalunya, a short walk away. We did the Montserrat, Winery, and Sitges tour and had a fabulous day (12 hours) for a small price (69 Euros per person). We did buy our tickets that morning, but availablity was not certain until right before they left. Try to buy it beforehand if you can.

THe hotel is right in the middle of the old city with its tiny, narrow, winding streets and byways. Strolling around in these to people watch and window shop is a great fun. I found one gem of a shop - the bakery Sant Jordi - not five minutes from the hotel - try their tartaleta de coco - a coconut tart - its to die for.
