Nice but hard
Staff was very accommodating. Hotel was nice and the rooms were big, but the beds were very hard. The hotel is conveniently located in Barceloneta near the beach and near a metro stop, making it a conducive location from which to traverse the city.

Location was in a great neighborhood and close to a metro stop. Beds and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Room was a bit small though.

Good!
Centrally located. Traveled everywhere by Metro. Good about Metro: travel all over the city. Bad about Metro: No escalators or elevators for tourists with large luggage or persons in wheelchairs. People very friendly, but WATCH YOUR PURSES. LARGE problem with purse robbers. HANG ON TO YOUR PURSES! But, GREAT city........

Good location
During our stay there was no hot water - and the lifts were broken. There was no real apology - just smiles and 'it's one of those things' attitude. Having suffered the lack of water and no lifts - reception added the cost of two bottles of water from the mini bar. A more caring approach might have been to delete this cost for our inconvenience?

Short walk from hotel
Many excellent restaurants in the lanes opposite - a very short walk. Note - they close for food quite early and will not serve you just a drink (buy one/two tapas if you just want a glass of wine and to watch the world go by).

Clean but lacking
The hotel had two elevators. One was broken the entire time I was there. The other worked but had no light in it so you had to ride up and down in the dark. The rooms were clean but small.

Whirlwind Barcelona
This was not what I would consider a 4-star hotel, but it was perfect for us. The room, although small, was clean and comfortable. The windows were soundproof and opened onto a lovely side street with a view of Roman ruins and the cathedral. The front door, however, did nothing to block the sounds from the hall, which could be noisy. We didn't bother with the breakfast, preferring to walk (5 min.) to la boqueira instead. Cafes with tapas and pastries are just steps from the front door, too. No pool, no fitness room, but a perfect, authentic place to sleep and shower in between exploring Barcelona.

nice hotel, good location
Great location on a road parallel to la rambla in the gothic quarter, right near the jaume 1 subway entrance AND the stop for the barcelona tourist bus. It's right next to the cathedral. Enjoyed the stay. AC works great, rooms are clean. Bathrooms have good showers. They speak some english, though the morning staff is better at it. have one computer for internet in the lobby which is free for guests-decent connection and not much of a wait for it. overall, great experience perched in a great location to see barcelona.
