Chic & Basic Rambles Hotel Barcelona

When I say this place is basic, I mean it is BASIC. Yes, there's a kitchenette. But I didn't come to Barcelona to cook. We had two "twin" sized beds. Nope, they were borderline cots. The TV was tiny and black and white. The bathroom was clean and spacious. I do want to say this place is very clean! I can still smell the bleach. The first night, the room was so stuffy. So we opened the sliding door to the balcony. At 4 am, the street below comes to life. Doors were banging. Motorcycles were vrooming. And we had to fight the lone mosquito that was buzzing in our ears. It was not restful. But the next night, we got the AC running and the noise and bug issues were greatly reduced. We also had a hard time finding this hotel. There's no sign with the words Gutenberg Aparthotel. The hotel is called Chic and Basic- Las Ramblas now. We walked around for awhile before realizing the name change. It looks like they might be doing changes or renovations. Because the lobby and bar area were MUCH nicer than our room. And we had to go to the back stairs to get to our rooms. Other guests went up the front elevators. They looked a lot happier than we were. Great location. Right around the corner from Las Ramblas. But I'd check out the Chic and Basic side instead of the Gutenberg Aparthotel side. In the end, it was fine. It was clean.The staff was helpful and friendly. But it definitely wasn't as nice as other places for the price.

Great location super friendly & helpful staff. Metro & La Rambla are right outside your door. Good buffet breakfast and tapas bar. It was cold and rainy but heating system worked great.

Nice apartment in a narraw street naer Ramblas, close to harbour area. Metro around he corner. There was some renovation going on, but this did not give any problems. Friendly, helpfull staff and surely recommendable to others.

Lovely room with Bath and Shower, Kitchenette with 2ring cooker, fridge, pans, plates, bowls, cutlery. Air conditioning, Balcony. Quiet location but 50metres from Drassanes Metro and at bottom of Las Ramblas. Not luxury but FANTASTIC and all we needed.

Wir fanden das Hotel super schön. Alles neu und cool eingerichtet. Das Personal war freundlich und gut aufgelegt. Leider war gerade Gegenüber eine Abbruch-Baustelle. Vom Morgen ab ca. 7 Uhr bis Mittag herrschte so extremer Lärm, dass man am liebste davon gelaufen wäre. Danach hatte man den ganzen Tag nur Kopfschmerzen und schlechte Laune. Schon am ersten Tag war uns klar, dass dieses Hotelzimmer, unter solchen Verhältnissen nicht zumutbar ist.

It was chick and basic, as it is called also. We had nothing to complain about. The room (standard double) was nice, clean and had all we needed and the staff was very nice also. The location is good and the rooms felt silent enough. The breakfast isn´t too good, but it is not included in the price anyway.

The location was great, people at reception was friendly. I would choose this hotel again when I get a chance to visit Barcelona!

Die beste Lage die es überhaupt geben kann, direkt an der La Ramblas und am Hafen. Hotel war gut, Frühstück OK und Zimmer auch gut, allerdings ohne Tisch, gegessen wurde auf dem Bett. Personal nicht immer nett.
