Excellent hotel in Barcelona

This hotel is in a perfect place to start your Barcelona experience. Down the way from noisy Las Ramblas, the hotel is right around the corner from the main Catedral and a huge plaza. Everything was nearby: shopping, restaurants, touristy spots. The hotel is very modern, the staff was very helpful (since I didn't speak Catalan), and the room was pleasant and quiet. Free internet access was a plus. The restaurant was pricey but there are so many places to eat nearby it didn't matter. Although it's in an alleyway, it was a safe place to walk even near evening hours, when things get going in Spain. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Excellent tapas restaurant just a few steps away from the hotel. Not expensive and delicious. Service a bit slow but that was with all restaurants in the area.

Excellent location for the price

Right around the corner from the center of Barcelona main square, the hotel was conveniently located to catch all major forms of transportation, from Metro to Hop-On/Hop-off bus and other site seeing busses. Breakfast was a bit pricey, and beds were pushed together to form queen bed. Great value for all it had to offer.

Definitely dine at the 4 Cats - a few "alleyways" away from the hotel. Picasso designed the original menu for the place in 1898 and no guide books mention this! Plus the food was delicious!

awesome location

because of its proximity to the Cathedral of Barcelona, this hotel is aptly named. The Cathedral is in a large square, which is very lively and full of restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. And 2-3 times per week, the local musicians gather on the Cathedral steps to play the folk music that accompanies the beautiful sacred dance "the sardana", which we witnessed on a Saturday afternoon. It really gives you a flavor of the local culture and all are welcome to join in. I took many photos and was so pleased to be part of the experience. It is possible to walk many places from the hotel and public transportation is close by. There is also a Tourist Information station around the corner and they are extremely helpful in setting up tours, giving you directions, maps, etc. There is also a bank on the corner for exchanging currency #which is the way to go for the lowest fee#, In the hotel, there is a small but adequate fitness center and an outdoor pool, which is not heated. Unfortunately, there are many pigeons in the area, so I am not sure of the pool's cleanliness. I did not visit the restaurant in the hotel, but it seemed busy. The front desk staff was excellent and their English skills were great. They were professional, friendly, and genuinely sincere. The hotel is in the Gothic district, which is filled with incredible architectural treasures everywhere you cast your eyes. I was able to walk to the Picasso Museum, which was well worth the hour long line to get in. The Music Palace, which is a World Heritage site, is also within walking distance, which you can tour or take in a show, I saw a Spanish guitarist perform one evening and he was so fabulous. The palace is spectacular in its ornate architecture, both inside and out. The Barcelona Cathedral, which is directly across the square, is a very ancient #14th century# and beautiful church, with visitors coming and going from the early morning until evening - free admission. From the airport, we took the Aerobus to Plaza Catalunya #5 euros one-way# and then walked 5 minutes to the hotel. The Aerobus comes frequently and you can purchase the ticket on the bus - very convenient. From that Plaza, one can take a number of different tour buses or the metro, which takes you everywhere. I also used the city bus system a few times for 2 euros per person, which was very prompt and easy. Overall, the hotel and location were great and I would definitely return.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

30 minute Flamenco show at Los Tarantos in Real Plaza - about 10 minute walk from the hotel. Not expensive and quite good. Shows were at 8:30 pm, 9:30 & 10:30. Box office opens at 8 pm. In the Plaza, there are numerous bars and restaurants - a very lively and fun venue.

Fantastic location and very modern

The staff at the front desk were excellent, especially [...] who was always friendly and accomodating. Our only complaint was that the cost of the breakfast is way too expensive. Would have eaten at the hotel but felt 18 euros was way too expensive for a continental breakfast. Also, was the first time we have ever had a charge for the coffee in the room! Loved the location. Hotel very modern and clean.

Very good hotel

Great location in Barcelona, very central in a decent area. Rooms very good, spacious and clean. Nice modern bathroom. All the staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely return. One disapointment was that the hotel restaurant closes during August - very odd we thought. Breakfast very expensive, cheaper alternatives elsewhere.
