Nice
It was clean and modern. The only reason I dont give it a 5 is because of the bed. We asked for a double bed and they gave us two twin beds side by side. A big promblme when traveling on your honeymoon.

Great Spot, walking distance of Ramblas
Great spot, far away from the Ramblas (5 min walk) to not have to stay up all night, but close enough to feel like you're in the heart of things. Funky decor and hotel, great service, but odd little things like no iron, hairdryer or conditioner (need to ask front desk)! Maybe this is common for Europe, I don't know. But, if that's all the bad you can come up with, that's not so bad after all!

Short walk from hotel
Rather than walk everywhere (which you easily can, and which we did for 3 days) buy a metro/subway pass and explore! Great city and you can fill 5 days easy.

The hotel itself is beautiful
The hotel itself is beautiful with a quirky modern design. In the rooms though it does feel that its a 'style over substance' approach. The basin and shower are actually within the bedroom with only the toilet being in a separate cubicle. Athough this looks good it is actually quite impractical! Also we couldn't open the floor to ceiling curtains without unhooking them at the end. We were on the 5th floor and there were only facilities to make coffee in the room. When I asked for teabags at reception I was told that they were only usually available for premier rooms from 6th floor up! Although they did arrange for some to be brought to the room which was good. The view from the roof top terrace is amazing. Had read some bad reviews about the area but the location is fine. 10 minutes walk to La Rambla's and with several bars around the square where the hotel is located.

fun building in bad locale
It was scary walk at night. The female staff were cold and distant and not eager to help us. The food was great and the restaurant amibence was fine. Our patio door was broken so we couldn't use it all week.

Barcelo Raval - Barcelona
Hotel is very clean, nice, and modern. Staff is friendly, and the restaurant is good. The rooms are super modern, with buttons for everything from the nightlight to the curtains. This hotel is in the El Raval section of Las Ramblas, which is an absolutely terrible neighborhood. We went for a short walk around a large block and ended up walking past a block full of prostitutes just 1 block from this hotel.... and that was in the middle of the day on a Sunday! We were not comfortable leaving the hotel after dark. I would have rated this hotel a 5 Star if it weren't for the neighborhood.

Most Modern Hotel
Enjoyed the very hip modern ambiance, very different. Beautiful view from top floor with seats and small soaking top outside. Location was OK, walked several blocks to La Rambla down questionable old seedy streets. No washcloths in room, but towels and sheets were top grade. Great coffee machine in room. Friendly staff.

Unique and Ideal for All
We had just come off a 16 day transatlantic cruise that was a bit disappointing. Thank heavens the Barcelo Raval was waiting for us. Our 3 day stay in Barcelona was the highlight of our trip and that was due largely in part to this hotel. The decor is so unique - a mixture of art deco, Ikea and James Bond. The service was fantastic - everyone was dedicated to making us comfortable and stress free. Our desk clerk and porter gave us all the information about tours, sight seeing and location of things to do. In addition, the room had complimentary grooming supplies (dental kits, razor and shaving gel in addition to the basics), an espresso machine and fully stocked mini bar and huge safe. We even had complimentary WI-FI. The location is superb-on a beautiful boulevard lined with restaurants, shops and outdoor cafes, a 10 minute walk away from Las Ramblas. And the roof top terrace with a heated pool and 360 degree view of the city is not to be missed. We couldn't have been happier. Hopefully we will be able to bring our adult children back to Barcelona next year to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. And we will be sure to stay at the Barcelo Raval because it was one of those hotels that exceeded our expectations - a true rarity in these days.
