My dream come true
I loved this hotel. It was like a dream come true. The staff were amazing. They were always respectful and nice. The front desk staff were English fluent but the other staff were limited. The hotel room was a little small, but I didn't expect to spend much time there, so I didn't see it as a problem. The room was high tech, I felt like I was in a movie. The internet was free, so that was a huge plus...but then there was so much free internet hotspots everywhere in the city too. The location is great. It's right across from City Hall, which makes it an easy landmark if you get lost. It can get noisy since there are almost daily public demonstrations or events. On the plus side, some of them are really cool, like the fashion show. There are two palaces right next to the hotel, so the first day of site seeing is made easy. There are also a lot of stores within a short walking distance, such as Lotte Dept. Store, Lotte Young Store, and Insadong. There are four restaurants to pick from, which was great. They were pricey, but you shouldn't expect anything less from a five-star hotel. I think in summary, this is what I expect from all hotels I go to in the future. I would expect nothing less than what The Plaza gave me from anyone else.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
You can save yourself a ton of money on breakfast if you just cross the street to Dunkin Donuts. There are a ton of great restaurants around the area too...although you're a little limited if you don't speak Korean or have someone that does.

Our Stay At the Seoul Plzza
The Hoel is right in the middle of the Financial Center of Seoul. The staff are very obliging and helpfu l. I needed a charger for my cell phone. We chatted for a few minutes with the Concierge. When we got bc to the room, one of the bellhops had been waiting at our door with one in hand..

Best hotel I've found in Seoul
Great hotel in the middle of northern Seoul. Recently remodelled. Awesome, free gym. Free Internet. Nearby city hall and the Cheongye stream and right next to the City Plaza (can get noisy starting at 6:30am though, due to music).

Seoul Plaza Hotel
Great hotel, would visit again. In fact will be back there in a few days. Only downside is there was a protest in the plaza - right outside my window - that was very noisy and ran until after 3:00 am. Noise started back up at 6:00 am. This was just unlucky timing so I would not hold it against them.

Great experience
The Plaza can truly claim to be one of the best hotels in Seoul (I have been to several others in various parts of the city). - best hotel gym, with a real squat rack, flat bench press, and incline barbell bench press (albeit located in the next-door building. The gym + pool are free to guests though unlike some other top Seoul hotels) - best in-hotel air quality (not a given in Korea where many "nom smoking" rooms reek of cigarettes due to poor ventilation systems). - extremely helpful staff (a given a top Seoul hotels but not in mid/low tier) - great, great location right next to City Hall Station - bathrooms are intelligently designed (water escaping from the shower has been a problem at other hotel) but they should install nightlights - can get a little noisy at night in rooms facing the main road

In Hotel
Thr hotel's buffett - called something like "Four Square" - has excellent grilled foods including lamb ribs and galbi (short ribs). It is pricy at 60k won, though (normally similar restaurants cost 30k won in Seoul)

Pricey but nice hotel.
Good place overall. Attentive staff. Cool decor. We chose the neighborhood because we thought it'd be good to have a lot of the touristy stuff within walking distance. But found that the downtown area is more of a wasteland of corporate highrises. The palaces were interesting but we found more interesting neighborhoods farther away. Oh the pool is in a separate building. Useless.
